Benefits are fantastic, being a luxury tour operator, you get to experience the destinations Kuoni sell first-hand.

The salary isn't great, especially for those living in London, but it's a great family-atmosphere, with lots of support, and a pioneer for the travel industry who set industry-wide standards and methods.
Pros
Educational Trips, Friendly coworkers, industry events and networking opportunities
Cons
Depending on store, working hours can be quite late, dealing with retail customers can be trying, salary isn't good

The wages (particularly in London) are not in line with other companies.and commission is only paid if a minimum target is hit eg you could do £120,000 revenue but if your target is £130,000 you get zero! Overtime becomes "the norm" so isn't appreciated and no over time is given back in hours or paid.
A lot of friendly staff in all the stores and head office but the turn over of staff is high (again particularly in London) this is due to low pay, bad work life balance, long hours, poor management.

Potential to be an amazing company with so many great staff and a good product but it is a company where you progress "if your face fits" and the customer certainly gets a better experience than staff.
Pros
Educational fam trips, holidays to be won, supplier events, nice product to sell, friendly atmosphere, nice head office
Cons
low pay, long hours, poor commission, out of touch management, unrealistic expectations

The assistant manager at my shop was a bully , put me down in front of my colleagues and would not help me when I asked for guidance. I left because she was a total bully and I have since discovered all of my original team has left the shop too.
Manager at another shop was ageist
Pros
Nice environment and if you are in a supportive shop, it would be amazing
Cons
Bullying management allowed to continue

Probably the hardest job in travel and the company is still learning retail. In general the staff are great, the head office team have their quirks but it’s an enjoyable place to work. Targets are very high and I’m still not sure how they are calculated. Uniforms are provided but aren’t great. Company struggles to attract staff and has a high attrition rate, which is a shame as it’s trying to do the right thing by its staff.

it a shop front and had walk in face to face customer. Learnt a lot at Kuoni. Staff were amazing but the targets were difficult you took to achieve. When you annual leave you still had to come back to work and reach the original target.

There is a relaxed and supportive management style at Kuoni head office, collaboration is encouraged and cross training is practiced so help to other departments can be undertaken when necessary.

You are a person in Kuoni, not just a staff member! Very well looked after- great opportunities for internal promotions or side stepping.
Very challenging & occasionally stressful job but totally worth it & incredible benefits too

My typical day would consist of working on learning and development initiatives where I would be designing and implementing training projects. I would also be engaging with staff from all over the company in supporting on going coaching and on going project work off the back of a leadership training roll out.

Really enjoyed working for and seeing the company grow. Good policies in place. Salary not in keeping with work expected and unfortunately the PRP scale is the same.

Extremely busy workload, once you prove you know what you are doing, you'll tend to get more work and additional responsibilities. Which in theory would not be a bad thing, but after achieving your goals and extending expectations, you don't get anything in return. No salary increase and no chance of promotion.
There are some great people working in the company, all very friendly..

A typical day working at Kuoni was very stressful.

My day always started with a last minute emergency for the same day or the following day. Having to deal with several bookings in 1 day with and also cover any colleagues who are off sick, other offices that are struggling and manage your own work load.

This is too much. The management are rude and unappreciative. You get paid for working like a rag doll. I never once left the office on time due to last minute problems or requests, However did not get paid for this overtime.

Absolutely horrible place to work.
Pros
No pros other than being paid to cover my bills
Cons
Stressful, understaffed and Bad company

who knows Japanese market well and doesn't know anything about Chinese market, always use her own experience to advised team to follow her, and completely not useful, slowly no any team would like to report issues to her, because of manager, the team is not cooperative, 1-2 team members are her ears and watch other teams in order to report to her. Its unhealthy work environment.
Pros
good salary

bad management

Pros:
- Some lovely people working for the company.

- Opportunities for luxury travel. They have educational trips and competitions to win holidays.

- Good induction process and support from head office.

Cons:

- If you are working for a Kuoni in a John Lewis store, the hours can be very varied. I had varied daily shift times within the same week, and varied days off creating an awful work-life balance.

- Lots of hours of unpaid overtime required (especially during peak sales periods).

- Lack of equality for sales staff. The distribution of telephone sales calls (on the Avaya system) has been set up to provide the top 25 sellers in the company with the majority of sales calls. When you need to hit your targets to gain commission this inequality is frustrating and unfair.

- The computer systems are difficult to learn and unnecessarily complicated. The main system, AS400, is a 1980's DOS system that desperately needs replacing. This makes the job much more difficult than it needs to be.

-There is a high turn over of sales staff at Kuoni. This should raise alarm bells for anyone considering a long term career move. The head office roles (non-sales) appear to have a much higher retention of staff.

- Problems rarely get addressed by management and you can be accused of being negative for pointing out any concerns. This leads to many work issues remaining unresolved.

Overall:

I was hugely disappointed by my time at Kuoni, it has so much potential yet fails to live up to this. If you are looking to get into travel sales, this does however offer a starting

Constantly was going through a change as a company.
In general best place I worked, lovely people.

The hardest part of the job was seeing people get made redundant.

- unpaid overtime all the time
- management - absent in work process

- workplace culture, if you are not italian, you will not be welcome

- the hardest part of the job - no training, maybe you will have training for 1-2 days, after, you have to be able to work as an old employee
