Team orientated cafe assistant role
Catering Assistant (Former Employee) –  York, North Yorkshire2 August 2018
A typical day at work involved managing the operation of the cafe, serving customers and abiding by strict food hygiene regulations. The staff were friendly and many members became close friends for life. The management team were mostly friendly during my time there. The role taught me the importance of customer satisfaction and always striving to meet the needs of the customer. My interpersonal skills greatly improved as a consequence of being a front-of-house staff member. The hardest part of the job was handling the cafe at busy times of the year, especially around Christmas. The best part of the job was working around friendly and hard working people.
Pros
Friendly Staff, Free Lunch, Diverse working environment

Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) –  Shirley, West Midlands2 August 2018
I was doing all kind of warehouse work, like packing picking stock, helping unload lorreis, loading lorreis and vans. It was very busy warehouse items going all around the country. It was fun and friendly staff to work with, but the work was always done on time for the day.
Pros
Cafeteria for breaks.
Cons
Good.

Productive & Fun Workplace - Poor Management
SALES ADVISOR (Current Employee) –  London, Greater London2 August 2018
The company is currently going through a period of great reorganisation due to the difficult time on the High Street. This role would be great for a school/college/university graduate wanting to get into the field of retail. The company is very focussed on training all staff to a high standard. The role on the shop floor varies some days are quiet others you are rushed off your feet. Management are poor there seems to be no sense of direction many staff have left and not been replaced putting stress and extra work on remaining staff. Dealing with Customers and helping them the most nicest part of the job. The hours are very long and the salary is very low if you start off as a Selling Assistant. Employee Benefits are excellent although the annual bonus gets lower year on year as it depends on profit and may not be around for much longer.
Pros
Partner Discount
Cons
Low Pay, Long Hours, Weekend Working

Sales Partner (Former Employee) –  York, North Yorkshire31 July 2018
worked here when the new store in York opened on a temp contract to get the ball rolling, sell themselves as being a great and family feeling place to work which was not the case at all, very clicky and management did nothing about it.

Explotive, corrupt managers no union.. managers misuse power.
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  St Pancras, Greater London, Heathrow31 July 2018
Very good company with good ethcs but the current managers are ruining it for the employees. They will use you to get up the ladder and break the rules and the rest of the managers cover them up. Boring and monotonous work. Good for someone with basic skills. No training when you first join. Managers are misusing their powers.
You will only know if you experience it
Pros
Discounts and benefits
Cons
No union and bad corrupt management

service representative (Former Employee) –  Didsbury East30 July 2018
This was a hard job, but you were mostly left to yourself and it was very clean and tidy as a workplace. It had a nice cantine also. The management helped with any queries you might have.

Fun place, great culture and benefits
Service Desk Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Victoria, Greater London30 July 2018
It is a great place to work. The co-ownership works well for both Partners and customers. There are opportunities for career progression. More recently it has been challenging and not enough resource to do the job. Due to the economic climate for the retail industry it has been tough for the company and the staff. Pay is not great but there are other perks which make up for it.
Pros
Good work ethic, great culture and discount
Cons
Changes made drastically as is very slow paced in decisions

Stock management and selling partner (Current Employee) –  Swindon, Wiltshire29 July 2018
The John Lewis Swindon Outlet store offers partners a chance to see how a different store can operate as we have to markdown products as they came into us. I have learned new skills such as selling techniques, processing sales and stock movement. The management is very professional and do what they can to meet all of the team member's needs. The hardest part of the job is trying to sort out items that have come in unexpectedly as they have not been put on transfer sheets so the distribution centres then have to try and trace them. The most enjoyable part is working with a team that is professional but also know how to have a laugh and a good time.
Pros
fun, subsidised lunches, flexible holidays
Cons
restricted access to certain programmes.

Enjoyed the people that I work with, however very quiet in my department, which is beauty, and I have found that there is also not much room for improvement or progression.

Work Experience (Former Employee) –  London, Greater London20 July 2018
I worked there for four weeks very hard as a slave and they didn't teach any things and at the end they will give you unfair feedback, do not waste your time to work there, they don't treat you as a colleague or the person who like to learn but like a labor.
Pros
