HGV2 HIAB DRIVER (Former Employee) – High Wycombe – 24 December 2017
I worked for jewsons they sent me on a weeks hiab training course put me up in a hotel. But once trained they put you out to make money. Each depot is a franchise all the managers are worried about is making as much money as possible. I think their health and safety is quite good .Only thing is cheap pay top management need to realise this
Big on health and safety when it suits them. Poor wages and expected to work Saturday and over time for no extra pay. Managers care more about profit than staff, nice when they want something but if you make simple mistake spoken to like dirt. Seems the more you do the more you get given because the seem to wanna look after the lazy staff and stitch up the good drivers.
Basic wages, conditions not great, too many suits that dont have the hands on experience to understand the day to day problems that the people "on the coal face" have to deal with. Room for progression but in my experience once promotion is achieved there is not enough support given. You are just a number in this company and it never feels as if you are a valued employee, I left for another job just after i got my 10 year service certificate and I havent looked back.
Driver LGV (Former Employee) – Leicester – 7 August 2017
The most enjoyable part of the job is being out on the road driving and delivering on your own. I learned a lot from my foreman, from all the different timber sizes to how to use all the different machines.
Forklift Operator (Current Employee) – East Finchley – 17 July 2017
H3ll on Earth. This is what comes to mind when I think of Jewson. I hate this company. I hate this place. I would rather shove a red-hot nail under my big toenail and then kick a wall really, really, really, really, really, really hard instead of work here for another minute.
Want you to work late and extra weekends for no pay, its as if they are doing you a favour employing you. Constant change of middle management means no continuity. Changing plans and priorities almost daily. Branched look tired and desperately need updating.
