Nice place, but poor technology investment and no process
Design (Current Employee) –  Warwickshire13 November 2018
In terms of employee perspective, it's a decent place to work, a lot of flexibility and staff benefits. However, as a technologically and objective driven person, the process here is one of the worst I've seen. There is no guideline or documentation on how to write process documents. If you ask someone they will direct you to a different team and they will say we can't disclose information to non-team members. There isn't a collabrative culture here. Cover their own backs is always the main priority. The software used are also dated, not up to date with current methods of working and no teams are using the same software.

To me, it's a shame because JLR is one of the biggest companies in the UK. It lacks a clear direction of what to do.

Engineer (Current Employee) –  Gaydon16 October 2018
Good work life balance and reasonable salary.
Very ambitious company. You need to be proactive and get stuck in.
Old and often pointless processes can get in the way of getting work done.

its not bad I suppose, good salary when you get a contract , shift rotations hard especially when I try to balance your own lifestyle, management can be tough to deal with never know where you be going.

Great work-life balance but company requires more foresight
Product Development Engineer (Former Employee) –  Warwickshire25 June 2018
- Research and analysis of trends to identify new business opportunities
- Develop new features for future products
- Create specifications, conduct DFMEAs, user trials and tests to develop products

- Working cross-functionally and within small individual teams was productive and great for sharing knowledge, however pushing innovative features forward was more difficult due to the processes for adoption onto a vehicle programme.
- Sometimes senior management stick to their own opinions rather than understanding the trend analysis, therefore ideas can become stuck at middle management level, reducing the ability to future-proof.
Pros
Great work life balance, good salary, opportunity to progress, annual funding towards a hobby
Cons
Hierarchical and process-driven structure meant that it was difficult to make changes
