I got interviewed in 2020 and in the interview they told me they had recently changed the way they interviewed as I was confused because it was so different to how people online had described it. First of all you apply and if they like your cv they they send you a link to do an online interview where you record yourself answering questions. If they like your answers they will ask you to attend an interview (mine was a group interview). At the group interview you will do a very simple task with around 8 other people and then one by one you will be individually taken for two different interviews.
The assessment had about 20 of us in a small room with 4 people on one table. A few IKEA staff were in the room observing us after they introduced themselves. Firstly, we introduced the person next to us before we were given a scenario which each table answered and fed back to everyone else. Then we were given a list of things that might happen on a busy saturday on your tills and had to put them in order of importance before feeding back to the group again. Then they gave us lego to build the highest tower, the 20 of us being split into two. Halfway through they said they wanted the same colour not to be touching. In the end they gave us availability forms to fill out and told us they would call us the same night if we got an interview.
The interview process has not changed much. For a checkouts co-worker, the interview process began for me with a video interview. Secondly was a group interview where you get arranged randomly into groups to discuss experiences and debate on what the core values of good service are. The groups are then changed with the next task being to choose an item from a selection and come up with a pitch in your group to do in front of all the other applicants where you explain the purposes of said item and present ways to market it.
This was followed by a 1-1 interview with one of the members of staff adjudicating and touches questions about interests, reasons for wanting to work at the company and your feelings about certain aspects of work. The interviewers also are given the freedom to ask other questions. I, for example, was asked about my five year plan.
The next week I received a phone call from the checkouts manager asking me to come in for a work trial and grandfather interview. I showed up at the reception, had a brief chat with said manager before being taken onto the shop floor, introduced to the shift manager who then partnered me up with two support workers who where on tills who then walked me through the process and aided in my learning of it.
This was a great chance to meet my potential cowokers. Following this, I was taken to meet another senior manager in the other part of the relations department for an informal chat (the "grandfather" interview) where I was asked about my interests and hobbies and how I found the day,
I will be a team player work hard and assist the customer and fulfil their needs! Also go above and beyond to give great customer service etc

Interview with department manager
Group assesment playing games and doing group exercises - these are mainly to determine how well you interact socially with other people and what department you best fit with. HR interview to check your values coincide with those of the company & discuss what hours you can do. Interview with department manager - pretty much a formality. Short induction day or two (paid) to tell you the basics of what is expected etc
TEDIOUS. You submit your application, you're then invited to a group assessment, then told if successful or not, then a face to face interview, then a 'grandfather' interview, where you're told if you were successful or not. Then a two day induction course.
2 stages of interview, the first stage would be in group, then if you qualify to second stage you will do one to one or face to face interview.
