If you continue with plans to install driver cab cameras, then you really will have a staffing problem. I certainly don’t want to be spied while spending 12 hours in a lorry, just as the management would’t want it happening to them. A lot of drivers have expressed the same views, and there is no shortage of work in the HGV sector.Answered 16 August 2020
If you are in management, you have been protected pretty well. From screens to stop face-to-face contact with drivers and warehousemen, as well as masks and gel.
However, anyone below management has been told to get on with it. There have been confirmed Covid cases at Avonmouth, yet this has been hushed up and no one told about it so that no-one goes into self-isolation.
Being customer-facing, you would expect the company to issue face masks to drivers, yet this was rejected due to cost (although they found the money to put up screens in the transport office). They even went on a shameless promotion by giving out free bread to hospitals, expecting drivers to work longer hours to deliver bread to the one place that people are being told to avoid visiting.Answered 9 July 2020
30000, 7 week pattern 3 or 4 on, then either 2, 3 or 4 off. It may sound good, but you will be working night shifts, weekends, 12 hour shifts, and be constantly drained.Answered 22 July 2020
