I was admitted to hospital for a week in April and was told by one of my supervisors that if I gave them a sick note by my doctor that I would receive statutory sick pay. I did just so and had them returned to me by my area manager with the excuse of my contracted wages weren't high enough to receive the sick pay. So basically if you're under 21 I wouldn't expect to be able to get it even if you're working 20 hours a week.

Home Bargains do NOT offer sick pay. They are a low cost operator, and do not indulge such extravagance. You also are entitled to 20 days holiday/year (pro rata) so may, depending on your manager, be able to negotiate any time off as part of this.
