Do you get paid monthly?
Do they do a 24hr contract?
What is the pay for over 25?
It’s a monthly pay, cut of dates are usually around 10th to 20th next month. You get paid for 4 or 5 weeks, depends on the month. Maximum contracted hours for a colleague position is 30hrs but very few people get that many. Management can look into exact days and they can print it off to hang in the staff room.
I got told smart trousers but when you see the mangers wearing jeans or leggings you tend to think why bother. Oh, warehouse never cleaned or swept. Store hoovered once a week. Everything is dirty. You will need to wash your clothes after every shift and your hands will be always black with dirt. So don't weat your good smart clothes
It gets boring over time, there no chance to progress. Sometimes you have to deal with difficult, unreasonable customers. Sometimes you get personally blamed for company’s faults.
It depends what are you good at, if you’re in good health and what’s scheduled for the day. You can be on tills for 1-2hours, do stock, putbacks, tidying, demos if you’re chosen plus general customer service, asking customers how can you help etc. I work with a great team and management, they listen to you and they’re always there for you, so I believe it depends on the store.
Don't just reel off facts about the business, inject some personality and be outgoing, that will carry you a lot further at hobbycraft than previous experience
There is sometimes a lack of communication at Hobbycraft between the managers but on a whole they are quite organised.
