It’s a monthly pay, cut of dates are usually around 10th to 20th next month. You get paid for 4 or 5 weeks, depends on the month. Maximum contracted hours for a colleague position is 30hrs but very few people get that many. Management can look into exact days and they can print it off to hang in the staff room.

It depends what are you good at, if you’re in good health and what’s scheduled for the day. You can be on tills for 1-2hours, do stock, putbacks, tidying, demos if you’re chosen plus general customer service, asking customers how can you help etc. I work with a great team and management, they listen to you and they’re always there for you, so I believe it depends on the store.
