HMRC 100 Parliament St London - challenging and interesting work, the opportunity to make a difference.
Head of Senior Leadership Development and Talent (Former Employee) – Whitehall London – 22 June 2015
HMRC is a very complex organisation going through a great deal of change both in terms of culture, systems and procedure. Nothing is simple and there are multiple stakeholders to manage.
Management at the very top of the organisation are eager to engage with the workforce and to drive culture change, this is somewhat diluted by management further down the line. Examples of great leadership are shown at all levels and tends to be down to the individual. Like wise the opposite applies.
People are generally really supportive of colleagues.
The hardest part of the job is getting things signed off as you have to go through various committees and the politics can be very frustrating for anyone who is used to just getting things done.
Best part - the intellectual challenge, the cut and thrust of being at the centre of what is happening in government.
complexity and challenge - invaluable experience.
highly stressful environment
