I feel that the landscape side of Grosvenor (where I worked) is a sinking ship. They make it out like the job is the best and was told many times that 'I wouldn't find a job that pays better and gives as much benefits in the horticulture industry'. The company is trying to make cuts left, right and centre, and unfortunately landscape team is affected by this.
The landscape team and management are very 'clicky' they make it out that we are all one team, but, if your face doesn't fit, then be prepared to feel left out. My head gardener was scatty and tried to rule use with an iron fist, and would complain if you had a sick day. My manager was lazy and hypocritical, often skiving to the pub whilst trying to preach to us about how we should be punctual, and my colleague was a massive depressant and anxiety sufferer who just made it hard to work with.
Overall, my experience with Grosvenor has been a very bumpy ride, I've had my fair share of ups, but, sadly I've had more downs, and for anyone who feels this is a good place to start in the horticultural industry, please look elsewhere.
