Meet our longest serving Home Manager, Yvonne

Yvonne Smythe celebrated an incredible achievement of 30 years at Peregrine House during the month of December 2018. There’s no doubting she has seen ‘it all’ in her career at Peregrine House. To mark this anniversary, we've asked Yvonne tough questions about recruitment, here's what she said.

• What advice would you give new starts looking to join the care industry for the first time?

The advice I was given was to be true to yourself, do the best that you can, and when unsure always ask questions! It can be a little daunting in care for the first time, but as soon as you settle, there really isn't anything better!

• What do you look for in new staff?

Compassion, Reliability & Commitment are the three most important things we look for in new staff. We need to know that we can leave our staff with their tasks or an agreed rota and be sure that everything will be ok.

• What do you look for when considering your staff for promotion?

The person should go above and beyond expectations. Meeting our company's core values and continuing to demonstrate compassion, reliability, and commitment.

CQC say we're Outstanding!

We're a family lead company, which is visible through the way that we work with each other. We have 2 Outstanding homes and 16 Good homes on our books! This achievement is testament to all our incredible staff who work tirelessly to achieve our mission and stand true to our values.

Care Assistant Roles

The role of a care assistant is often a demanding job as you will have to be available for most of the day or week depending on your contracted hours. But, it can also be very gratifying. People who are ill, injured, disabled or elderly are deserving and thankful for the exceptional support.

No qualification or background in care required, just a positive attitude towards your work is essential. We provide all the training you will need to become a great employee and, we'll assist you to further your career in care.

Employee of the Year

Chief Operations Officer Sam Cheekoory awarded Activity Coordinator, Kimberley Buet from Queensway House as ‘Gold Care Homes Employee of the year’. He spoke about her persistence to ensure all residents are receiving person-centered activities, and how she delivers our mission statement with every interaction.

Kim received flowers, a certificate and a £200 gift voucher upon winning the prestigious award of Employee of the year!
