Great 12 month university placement
Warehouse Team Manager (Former Employee) –  Barnsley7 June 2019
My year at GIST was the most challenging yet beneficial year of working career so far. It was a great introduction to management and although I was thrown in at the deep end, it was the most rewarding experience and I was definitely a better manager when I left.

Disappointing place to work
Driver (Former Employee) –  Motherwell, North Lanarkshire17 April 2019
GIST Motherwell has a reputation of being unable to keep a stable team of Drivers due to management having NO people skills. Constantly planning routes which would be unachievable in a helicopter never mind a truck. Drivers were often asked to 'See what you can do!' (Break drivers hours) on regular occasions.

Good money, BUT terrible management.
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) –  Bristol11 January 2019
Management are a joke.
Unqualified, unskilled and none are ex-drivers.
Consistently plan runs that break the 13 hour contracted maximum.
Assume all drivers can operate under trampers hours rules.
Hourly rate pay rise not honoured for 6 months. Then paid in one lump sum, on which drivers got heavily taxed.
Filthy trailers. Unhygenic. Never washed inside or out.
"Overtime" available, but paid at standard rates.
Huge variation in start times - next shift can start 3 hours earlier than previous one, planned for 13 hours plus.
Job security good, because of high driver turnover, and they are always desperate for drivers.
Pros
"Max out" possible on hours worked.
Cons
Everything else.

Driver management awful
Driver class 1 (Current Employee) –  Carlisle17 November 2018
New managers at Carlisle are unbelievably bad, no organisational skills whatsoever, don’t think they have any experience or road haulage. They certainly don’t know drivers regulations.
Pros
Plenty of work
Cons
Dire management in Carlisle transport

Every Day is Different
Transport Shift Manager (Current Employee) –  Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire21 June 2018
Every day is different in Transport and is dependant on volumes coming into the depot.
I am currently running the night shift which I have done since January of this year.
On an average day I can been getting 101 vehicles out the gate to delivery to around 120ish stores.
During the night I am checking volumes, filing the vehicles to there capacity to ensure best use of space.

Misserable Rude Employer
Freight planner for perishable cargo (Former Employee) –  Basingstoke16 June 2018
The first day I walked into their main office , I was hit with a thick wave of bad energy . However I did lean about importing perishable
cargo on the Defra computer and the gems customs computer .
I did not feel comfortable with the management as they were
bullying loud and abusive with their boot behind you .
I disagreed with their work place culture as they did not practice team work attitude , making a new employer do a whole mornings
heavy shift on his or her own which I thought was totally
wrong and unfair . The hardest part of the job was working under pressure while the line managers were not supporting you , only
kicking your backside all the way .
The most enjoyable part of the job was talking to the one and only colleague in the whole building that was quite friendly .
Pros
Staff restaurant and staff training
Cons
Working with abusive teenagers and unfriendly colleagues

PA to Sales Development Director Board Level (Former Employee) –  Basingstoke16 May 2018
Stuck in a bit of a time warp
No progression for PA's and not provided with laptops or mobile phones. Very much a 9-530pm environment for Admins. No real opportunity to be able to think outside the box and feel as though you are adding value. Paid to do and job and that's it

Poor planning and organisation
HGV Driver class 1 (Current Employee) –  Enfield29 January 2018
This company lacked planning or organisational abilities. Often mixing loads that required hours of drivers time at stores to reorganise. The start times and shift lengths meant it was more than unsociable since half would be night and half would be daytime.
