Horrible company
Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Aberdeenshire19 November 2019
Farmfoods was once an okay company to work for, but change of higher management has seen a power trip. Staff spoken to like dirt, no consideration for how we feel. Made to feel uncomfortable when higher management visit the store. Hours are changed multiple times through the week, therefore it's hard to balace work-social life. Not enough staff on shift for the amount of work that is expecter to be done.

Lovely staff to work with, poor higher managment.
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Aberdeen28 October 2019
Lovely staff to work with, management good although dont always work around you like they state to help you with any shifts to fit in around times u may not be able to work due to childcare etcbut expect you to work round them to help them out. Expect you to do at sometimes the least 20+hrs over your weekly contract and give you no thanks for it, change shifts last minute without even asking or advising you first!. Always want to take everything they can from you but never give anything back. And whatever you do for them is never good enough.
As for the higher managment (areas) they can do store visits without even acknowledging any staff members the pass on the shoploor, I find this rude and a total lack of respect shown to all employees.

Suitable for a younger person
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Fort William, Highland24 September 2019
Very heavy work load, area manager makes working there very hard & didn’t take into account my Multiple Sclerosis & how it affected my work load. Cut the staff to 2 per shift, which really was unachievable

Overbearing tyrannical workplace
Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Aberdeen27 August 2019
It is a hard place to work at, there is a culture of blame. There is constant pressure from management to meet unrealistic targets. Everything is always our fault.

Rules made to be broken
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Knightswood19 June 2019
Worked here for a while and had to vacate myself from the business due to the absolute shambles of a system run by them, they expect you to work 14 hour shifts in a day followed by 8 hours rest at home and back in 6am the next morning, completely ignoring your working rights management fail to even recognise the working time regulation act 1998.

They dont hire enough staff to run a site effectively meaning on most shifts you wont get a break as you have several deliveries in daily consisting of upto 10 pallets of goods for you and 1 other person to put away whilst still serving customer, you also have to act as your own security and deal with shop lifting and aggression yourself.

The back area of the shops are also filthy with stock stored on and around dirty staff sinks and kitchen areas.

To work for this business you need to have absolutely no morals or self pride and you need to be happy to leave your personal life at the door as it doesnt exist when you sign your contract
Pros
Weekly pay
Cons
Dirty conditions, bad work life balance, your just an employee, overworked, underpaid, under appreciated

If you care about your own wellbeing this isn’t for you.
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Wales22 February 2019
They act all nice at the interview stage and for the first 3 months of being there, but once that stage has gone then there is no hope going forward. You are treated like you’re the last scrap at the bottom of the barrel. The job itself is very boring and repetitive, no day is different. If you have kids then don’t expect sympathy off them, especially if they aren’t well and you need to take the day off to look after them. If you need to take time off due to appointments and etc, they will say they cannot give you the time off due to company needs. They do not care about mental health, and they wonder why most of the staff spend more time on the sick than they do actually in work.
Pros
Weekly Pay
Cons
Treatment from higher management.

Horrendous management
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Alloa, Clackmannanshire22 June 2018
Incredibly biased management, not a clue how to treat those beneath them (like most retail establishments). A typical day of work would consist of the shop open, from there you would stock shelves, review/order stock amounts, work tills and clean. Cashing up/store close were also a part of the routine. Two faced staff all around and utter lack of respect. Enjoyed the job itself, could not stand the people. Decent wage was paid, yet hours were extremely inconsistent.
Pros
Decent wage
Cons
Horrendous people

Can be awful
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Cambridge, Cambridgeshire23 May 2018
Company management are expected to do almost everything in a day’s work.
Typically understaffed with often just two people in store.
Retail staff would work 4 hours and had to be given a 15 minute break whereas Management can do as long as 10 hour days and not get breaks simply due to the work load.
Called in to work on my holiday 3 times and then told I would still have to take it as holiday.
Little to no support from area managers.
Constantly rejected new uniform when ordered it despite only having 1 top and 1 pair of trousers.

Overall working for this company I would dread starting shifts and get very anxious and affected mentally by what I would turn up to at work and the thought of work. Could not wait to find another job with a lot less stress.
Pros
6 weeks holiday a year
Cons
No time for breaks, work load ridiculous, everyday struggle

Upper management terrible. Corrupt company
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire27 February 2018
Very underappreciated. No time for a social life. 13-14 hours shifts to get everything done that is asked of you including voluntary hours. Not a word of thanks from higher management. Even retailers contacted hours are cut to make profit for the fat cats. A lot of corners cut and not everything is legal. 50 hour weeks with no breaks
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Everything
