Cliche-like work environment, high stress and no communication
Staff sometimes work against each other and generally don’t communicate well. Management are could be more helpful. I witnessed racism during my time there
Pros
Good pay, lovely residents, supportive house managers.
Cons
No nightshift incentive, awful communication all round, not enough time with residents, unhealthy coworker relationship, not enough training.

Excellent place to work
Part of a caring culture attending to ex-servicemen and women. The care given and attention to detail is apparent in every area. I felt privileged to be a part of the team.

Shocking
No one knows what they are doing and work to a “depending on who’s on” mentality. Some staff too heavy handed and no wonder with lack of training, supervision and staff shortages. Care commission should be all over this place like a rash! I have not met one person that has something positive to say. Management treat care assistants like idiots yet let’s see them do the job! Staff leave residents in front of a tv all day and use that time to socialise amongst themselves leaving residents bored senseless. The activities pick and choose depending on who’s “easiest” instead of giving equal chances to all residents to benefit from their programme. Staff too task orientated and make mistakes which they cover up. Shifts are ridiculous, back to back 12hr shifts! This place is not person centred at all but on making money to pay the management!

Rewarding job
It seems like the rules of the "game" are always changing. Meaning that every time I go into work, some part of my daily work has to be altered to conform to some new rule and I'm never told of these new rules by a supervisor. The routine and organisation level with Erskine is not very good. They expect the world of care assistants, but very often leave us understaffed, which is unfair to us and the residents.
Pros
nice break times, nice residents, decent pension and pay
Cons
long hours, lack of communication from management, awful sick pay policy

It is a rewarding place to volunteer
I helped serve the residents there meals and cleaned up after they had finished and helped them move back to their rooms or off to whatever activities were provided that day. This taught me basic food hygiene and cleaning as well as how to cope with different kind of people with debilitating health problems.
