Talented People - stifled slightly by Centralised Controls

The company is large with a presence in most countries globally and a wide product portfolio. Collaborating with talented colleagues all over the world was a fun aspect of working for Ericsson.

There were a lot of reorganisations while I was at Ericsson - sometimes one would start before the previous one was complete - and this led to a feeling of instability with some staff finding it demotivating.

Another challenge was that centralised control of processes and ways of working via the Swedish head office meant it could be quite difficult to develop ways of working that best fit a specific part of the product portfolio or best utilised local expertise. The most enjoyable part of the job was the sense of achievement when Sweden was bypassed and a lean, agile way of working could be established!

I feel that Ericsson is one of the greatest companies to work for. I was taught many things and was fortunate to join the team.

A typical day involved:
• Driving business performance through efficiency projects
• Managed business requirements for Vodafone and Telefonica 4G rollout across the UK and also planning transmission for 2G/3G consolidated networks of T-Mobile, Orange and Three
• Eliciting well defined requirements through interviews, workshops and meetings
• KPI monitoring and analysis
• Programme management through communications with business analysts, developers, customers and senior stakeholders
• Managing senior stakeholders to ensure timely sign off – managing requirements successfully in order to gain confirmation that the business needs have been met
• Effective management of customer expectations throughout the delivery life cycle. Includes proactive communication and collaboration with external and internal customers to analyst information needs and function requirements
• Ensuring effective communication between stakeholders and the development teams through the use detailed communication, presentations and meetings
• Provide support for any data integrity issues encountered within the business. This includes creating reports to assist teams with data issues and analysing complex data to resolve the data problems
