Respect their employees, encourage teamworking and not trying to 'one-up' each other and plan the shifts. Of course you can't know how many orders there will be each night until the shift progresses but having drivers hanging around and then sending people home whilst others stay until past midnight due an increase in orders seems daft to me.

Proper training, proper shifts and hours. make sure the staff know how to act profesionally. have a member of staff on duty soley for cleaning and restocking. actually follow the hygiene rules and regulatins. have more than 1 till accepting cash payments.

Stop allowing your polish employees to speak in polish over the counter to colleagues and drivers or over the phone. When you're the only (new) english employee in the office it makes you feel completely isolated.
