It used to be a great place to work but they struggle to keep staff due to poor management and employing people who are not right for the role.Promotion is only given if your face fits and you are prepared to say what they want hear.

Being part of the Demelza team enabled me to gain so many skills and different experiences some that I will treasure forever .You work here because you want to make a difference to the families and children who use the service. Demelza do so much more than provide palliative care, they provide care and support holistically for the child and their family. On the negative side- Long shifts and the salaries varied amongst staff and did not reflect on their responsibility or qualifications, but instead depended if their face fit. If you were one of the lucky ones, you would probably have full job satisfaction and a promotion without an interview.

As a charity I am shocked at the over investment it the most senior staff in terms of salaries & shoe-ins. Knowing what I know about who gets what & how was deciding factor in my decision to leave which is really sad because it is a fantastic charity doing lots of amazing work in a hugely under resourced area but the favouring at the top has left me unwilling to support the charity in the future sadly.
Pros
Great people & services
Cons
Poor balancing of salaries & too much favouring for those willing to make moral compromises

I thoroughly enjoyed working for this company. The large customer basis and range of people that I worked with meant that my ability to adapt to situations and quickly support a huge network of people is incredibly apt. I feel that my confidence and motivation to support the community has sky-rocketed and I am grateful for the variety of experience that I now have.
Pros
Wonderful support network
Cons
I had to learn to successfully deal with rude customers.

A typical day would consist of a morning meeting with warehouse supervisors and staff about daily targets and how to prioritse/achieve, Different sectors include:quality sorters for clothing/household goods, re-cycling, e commerce sites, electrical PAT testing, retail, drivers, transport and distribution to chain. We have an enormouse level of morale that helps to achieve all of these items on our daily agenda and a very strong sense of achievement at the end of day. We have to deliver and win through on a daily basis. With staffing coming from different areas, i have really learnt alot about myself with how to utilise and get the best out of them to achieve. People management skills feature very highly at Demelza warehouse and is extremely important to maintain a workforce with high morale and keep it there consistantly. Training is very much a priority. One of the hardest aspects is trying to achieve so much with such minimal resources and workforce on a daily basis. This is a daily challenge and is fulfilling. The most enjoyable part of my job is making a difference, building bridges across other departments and knowing what and who we are achieving for.
Pros
a great sense of pride and achievement
Cons
as a charity, not having the materials to cover ther volume of work
