restructure required to make this place work. the staff are low so the more senior staff are relied on to work overtime, which causes stress and a poor work life balance

avoid them
a place to avoid from workshop to managers. There are few exceptions but that's what they are, exceptions. Their slogan “one team” , just an empty senseless null sum of words.

Eltrac maintenance - Becton
The biggest problem with cubiq is the management. They do not care at all about people and treat them as functionaries or "cannon fodder" There is no career path as the HR have no idea what is going on "on site" as they are very remote, employing people who use buzzwords rather than any experience. Recently we had a new team leader in the engineering ELTRACS who got his engineering experience as a shelf stacker at Morrisons, no word of a lie, employing him over at least 2 very experienced and good engineers.

The management talk to you like dirt, often using obscenities.

They cut the teams to the bone for cost cutting measures and subsequently i now get to see very little of my family. They recently extended the shifts from 10 hours to 12 and maintenance regularly runs over (due to lack of spending on more engineers) so days usually run to 15hrs (no choice)

If you are considering working in the eltracs maintenance, watch out for the management as they are garish thugs who would alsmost certainly their own friends and family out, assuming they as they have none at Becton.
Pros
none/it's a job
Cons
long hours no life work balance thug management culture no room for advancement

Nice people to work with in the GOC.
The support teams were very knowledgeable and made any new employee feel very welcome. The department was ran at a very stable pace and the business has a niche specialist market to increase growth but I feel it kept employee wages low and there is very little career progression. The environment at work was not conducive to inspire innovation due to the type of support work undertaken.

A busy job can also mean a satifying job
I was there almost 12 years and climbed a ladder of some sorts, within the department i was in. It was hands down the busiest and most stressful job i have had, but man did i enjoy being in the role i had. I know things have changed within the company since i left, so i have no know how today, but back in the day, it was a good place to work.
Pros
The perpetual work load
Cons
The pay for those in my department

Has potential
During my short stay at Cubic, I quickly became aware of the inefficiencies and some poor leadership qualities. When I attempted to address this, I was informed that HR would be involved, but they were not, and the issues became worse. Lack of leadership training ultimately led to a very demotivated workforce. The manager of the office appeared nice at face value but was deceitful with the false promises. This company has the potential to benefit its customers far better but won't be resolved due to the size of the job and inner politics. Avoid the Baker Street branch.
Pros
Flexi time, work from home
Cons
Poor management, and organisation, inefficient processes

Cubic Transportation Systems has a solid and well-deserved reputation in Automated Fare Collection but is also looking to serve the transportation needs of the future. There are many knowledgeable, friendly people who are great to work with.

Poor all round
Potential to be a good place to work. Global operation center in Stockton is a new thing, but let down by god awful management and a culture of jobs for friends and those that suck up.

Team leader of infrastructure in the global operation center is arguably the most technically challenged, incompetent person you will ever meet. If it wasn’t for his ability to suck up, he wouldn’t even have s job. It’s pathetic. The whole management structure in this area is just plain clueless and wrong. Until this changes, nothing else will.

For the few good people that know what they are doing and skilled to do the role, these people are let down by management and the type of work that the management want to bring in. Nothing challenging, only simple things... silly really. Jobs are advertised that are borderline lies and not what the role will entail, but if you question this then you are seen as causing problems. Interviews by someone who isn’t technically competent to interview often just lead to poor appointments or in worst case scenarios, interviewing friends... how is that not a conflict of interests.

Atmosphere in the office is a bit poor as the amount of fed up people far outweighs the happy ones. People leaving in droves, and this will continue whilst the shambolic management structure remains as it is. If it doesn’t benefit them, they aren’t interested.
Pros
Free cups of tea/coffee. Some really good people
Cons
Management is dreadful. Team leader is a joke

Two many unsuitable people in positions of authority
Besides the role being pitched as having strong technical areas of work in the future (and that never materialising) sadly Cubic was the one place which had so much potential but (due to a very small number of people) turned out to be the most disappointing. This was mainly down to a few people in key positions which was detrimental to the success of so many individuals. So often those people create an air of hypocrisy, panic and stress.

I myself routinely witnessed poor management conduct (including decisions and actions). Many individuals suffered simply due to them not being liked by certain managers. Whereas terrible appointments were made simply because that person fitted the profile they wanted.

Sneaky, disingenuous and downright lazy people are still to this day getting away with what amounts to an instant dismissal in most other good organisations. It shows how much those particular managers in charge of them either dont know their team members, dont care or are simply 'in it for the money'.

People with an incredibly strong understanding of their role are being used and abused, with their managers in return being pretty clueless and bluffing their way through their own jobs. It was part of this reason that I pursued an actual IT role.

Cubic is a classic example of an organisation that follows the flawed corporate model of bringing people in for next to nothing, not investing in them, extracting the maximum from them (hours/shifts) and then giving them the minimum in return (salary, bonuses, training and career development).

I had hoped that Cubic

Nothing to add
Nothing to add - I do not wish to review any of the companies I have worked for. My experience with the company was exactly that - MY experience and I can't see how that can be helpful to any future candidate searching for a role at that company.

Great learning environment
Working in Cubic gave me great cleaning skills which can carry over to a plethora of different working environments. Additionally, I have a greater understanding of cleaning materials and have been able to carry out specific tasks without supervision.

you have to take broken devices from the AREP (Awaiting to REPAIR) shelf, input data from the device card into a remote application called METRIX, fix the product , test it and then finnish details in METRIX
typical configurations of the specific product

managament is very strict

the company culture is to satisfy the client and provide high standards of quality and safety

the hardest part of the job are finding various faults to the component level

the most enjoyable part of the job was finding a very difficult fault that might take a lot of time
Pros
fairly good salary
Cons
needs to be more open minded to different solutions, not much transparency

Good learning opportunities but not a good work / life balance
Cubic do invest in your learning and development however, they don't have a great culture as the senior management support for PMO activities is minimal, there are a lot of 'it is what it is' attitudes and the work / life balance available is poor.
