Pay structure is over complicated
If you don't mind a bit of hard graft and getting your hands dirty the job itself is quite enjoyable, it's varied and no two days the same.

The trucks are in a terrible state and are off the road more than on due to age (mostly over 8 years old) so don't expect shiny new units like you'd get in most otherwise companies of this size because it's not going to happen.

The PAY ....... right then the pay structure is so difficult to work out its just impossible. First things first your not going to earn £30,000 plus here for quite some time so take no notice of the job ad. Realistic is £1600 - £1900 take home per month for at least the first six months.
Obviously that depends on your work ethic and whether you're prepared to work long days until you get used to the job. But even then your earnings are dependent on how many cars you are given to deliver/collect and what zone they are in by the office and there's no real system in place to evenly distribute the work. If you're face fits and all that jazz. This seems to be a real issue for a lot of the lads and is probably the reason most leave, there's a high turnover here and most new starters don't get much past a couple of months. It is hard work for the amount of money you earn. So to explain a little the value per car depends on how far you go for them or what zone they are in so you could collect more cars than others and find your pay lighter due to them having been to higher value zones. Which effectively means you work harder for less. There is also frustration surrounding the missed collections as you may drive well - more...

Work all day for peanuts
You have to work yourself to the bone to get a half decent wage and are not valued or appreciated at all.
You do get good family fun days and works party’s but it’s least you should get for the work you put in to pay ratio

Lots of hours for little money
Worked at the Chester branch for 4.5 years and it was great at the start could earn decent money until 1 year in they brought in a system called paragon it ruined the Job. We went from being able to collect upto 21 cars a day to struggle collecting 10 and doing the same hours 10 to 14 hours mon to Friday and when they pay you per car it worked out that we were all earning less than minimum wage. Some days you will get a long run to aberystwyth in your 07 plate daf that's had about 40 different drivers abusing it and half a million on the clock which is usually around a 12 hour day due to the distance and you might only collect 4 vehicles and earn about 50quid for the day and go home caked in oil and dirt. So to cut a long story short if they changed back to the old system not a bad old Job with plenty of variety.
Pros
Fun days out, christmas party paid for, variety at work
Cons
Long long hours for very little pay

Advertise job at £31k realistically you earn £27k with the hours works out minimum wage. Management love to disaplin you for the slightest thing witnessed a witch hunt on a driver lost a top chap. This company needs to wake up pay skilled drivers properly and give the respect they deserve. The job is dirty but you can plan your day and your home each night. Varied job if your face fits you will earn more work
Pros

Don't bother
The pay scheme is a joke, worked out that the time put into collecting and delivering all the vehicles, you don't get much more than the minimum wage hourly rate, as a class 1 driver, that is absolutely pathetic.
Pros
Job & knock
Cons
Ridiculous pay scheme.

God Awful!
I worked at Head Office for a long time and saw 2 inept managers come and go. There was no room for promotion or even to move to different departments for Managers and team leaders only allowed their treasured favourites to move up or move to better departments. If you were not part of the inner circle then you were nobody. There was no overtime, only time in Lieu which management was reluctant to let anyone take due to being understaffed all the time. HR always backed the management and so it was pointless to file any kind of grievance. Annual pay increases were often held back for the most minor of reasons and asking for help was often ignored. Team Leader positions were given to personal friends of the manager and few could do the job and often quit after a few months. Praise for a good job was non-existant. Would never recommend this company to anyone.

Pay structure leaves a lot to be desired
I worked for this company as a class 1 driver, having come from the new vehicle delivery environment.
Promised excellent pay, equipment and conditions.

None of which materialised.

The pay structure is of such that the "favourite faces" get the better paying work and outward deliveries. New starters get none, and lower zone collections.

If you don't break the £60 per day in collections, that's it...
Your basic pay for which you will probably work 12 hours.
I broke down, by the time I got home...13 hour day, I earnt £60

So, do yourself a favour..... Leave well alone!
Pros
None really
Cons
Lots.... Ignorant management. Very early starts which can become long days for little money

Worst company to work for
I worked as a driver collecting cars you get paid per car bad management bad planning expected to stay behind for meeting with no pay expected to clean and repair truck with no pay and to reload truck oh you got it no pay left after 6 months as they have a high turn over of drivers the only way to get your run done is to take breaks while loafing and unloading it's also a place if you are a yes man you will be fine if you are not you won't be there long
Steer clear of this job

Worst management ever had in any job!
The job in itself was great,it was the management who ruin it. . Management don't look after staff, have no people skills and won't help you. high staff turnover, very low pay. They make you stay over your contracted hours and won't let you go home at night, won't replace staff when leave, workloads are too high for staff ratio. General negative attitude never any praise. Deceptive of the term 'flexi hours' are told only flexed up to full time during busy periods, this yard is busy all year round, so are permanently flexed up, so should advertise vacancies as full time not flexi. You get shouted at and bawled at across the office in front of customers by office management which is very unprofessional, spoken down to and treated like children.
Pros
faced paced so day goes fast.
Cons
Management attitude towards staff
