Driver (Former Employee) –  Huncoat, Lancashire13 May 2019
Health & safety disaster waiting to happen. Driving regulations ignored, vehicles driven dangerously, loaded unsafely. 14 hour days no breaks, humping heavy items with no equipment. If all this sounds like fun then this is the job for you.

Second Man (Former Employee) –  Huncoat, Lancashire30 March 2019
If you like to be bullied, over worked and under paid this is the perfect job for you. Long hours with no thanks. 6am start 9/10pm finish. 50/60+ hours per week. There is no training given you come in and just get put with a different driver every day. Stupid amounts of unnecessary paperwork to fill out some of it gets put in the bin it’s put in there daily pack to give the second man something to do, ringing customers at 6.30am which annoys a lot of people. You single handedly carry beds on your own so you have to be strong or get strong very quick. If you do arrive back from your run early they will make you go back out with extra deliveries. When you arrive at 6am and you wagon is not loaded, that’s not a problem they just make you load it, even tho it’s the job of the wear house. You get to handle people’s dirty old beds and mattresses covered in old bodily fluids with no PPE some people houses are covered in animal mess. You do get the odd nice customer the rest of them are horrible they spent thousands on buying a bed they think they can treat you like dirt.

There is racism going on within this Dispach Centre, don’t tell anyone you will probably loose your job. Don’t trust the office with anything, make sure accidents are reported the office try and fob you off saying they don’t have time, just demand you won’t be leaving work until the accedident pack is filled out because you are screwed if you can’t work due to an injury no sick pay no compensation. When the wagon is loaded it’s not secure, drivers and drivers mates have had beds land on top of them, one lad suffered
more... a broken elbow and was knocked clean out after an unsecure load fell and knocked him out of the wagon. If you do decide to work for this corrupt company ask the drivers about joining the union but don’t let the office get wind of you joining the union you will loose your job before you get chance to join.

The turnover of staff is unbelievable new faces every day some last 1 day some last a few more, this is due to the lack of training. If you need the toilet you have to wee in a bottle or poo in a plastic bag on the back of the wagon, if you do it in a customers house you will face disciplinary.

The 21,000pa may sound very good but with the amount of hours that you do it’s less than national minimum wage when you work it out

Don’t delete your indeed app when you get this job 2 hours in you will be looking for another job

Quality Controller (Former Employee) –  Lutterworth, Leicestershire13 July 2018
I did this short stint job for 6 weeks in the summer I found the work rather boring however I was not there to gain experience. The only pro is I earned a reasonable amount of money in a short space of time.

The worst job I have ever had
Drivers Mate (Former Employee) –  Magna Park5 October 2017
Employed as a driver's mate.
Typical day would involve coming in anywhere between 4:30am-6:00am and "finishing when the job was done". 12-15 hour days were common if you were out with an agency driver (who got paid hourly so wanted to stay out as long as possible).

During my time there management were unhelpful, unsupportive and knowone seemed to have any idea what was going on. Some days you would wait for 3 hours (due to runs not being ready) and then have to do a full day's work.

Overtime was non existent.

Staff moral and attitude was always frustrating.

Health and safety neglected.

It took leaving this place to realise how it feels to be a valued employee.
Pros
Nothing, avoid at all costs
Cons
Long hours, poor management, poor planning, health and safety neglected

Long hours and heavy work
Driver (Former Employee) –  Magna Park Lutterworth9 June 2017
Best to look at Agency placement to get best financial reward as Agency drivers are paid by the hour whereas salaried drivers are not entitled to overtime, not unusual to do 13/15 hour days? Very enjoyable but heavy work. Enjoyed both the driving, nationwide as well as central London. Only reason for not continuing was due to demands of Kinship Care call on time.

Awful place. Awful management. You are a number.

You will be used and abused. Silly working hours, very little pay, management do not have a clue.
Expected to complete 12 hours work in an 8 hour day.

Worst job you'll ever have
Driver (Former Employee) –  Ayr19 February 2016
Transport office in this place don't have a clue, drivers have no back up from them even when (regularly) placed in positions of danger due to irate customers losing the plot. Have to get the vehicles repaired in your own time, often have to work in excess of 14 hours per day, vehicles are old and decrepit, at least 3 break down every day. Driving rota is never fairly done with the same five or six guys never doing sofas and always finished before 3 o'clock while the rest of us have to work until at least 7 o'clock every night after starting at 6 am. No training whatsoever just chucked a set of keys and told to get on with it. Guy who hands out keys in the morning is so incredibly rude I'm surprised he's not had his nose broken or worse, but his day will come. Don't ever go off sick or take holidays because you'll pay for it when you get back. And if you try and raise any points or try to get the company's grievance procedure put in place you get the universal answer " just get it f@#%ing done". Save yourself and go on the dole you'll have more pride in yourself than working for this shower.
