Small Professional Force providing excellent service
Police Constable (Former Employee) – Snow Hill Police Station, City of London – 30 August 2012
There is no such thing as a Typical Day at Work for a Police Officer, every day presented a different challenge, and this is what I found to be the most enjoyable part of the job. During my service I have dealt with all manner of situations from lost children, being asked questions and having my photo taken by tourists, dealing with minor crime and traffice incidents to the more serious events such as fatal accidents, suicides, and terrorist incidents.
My fellow officers were always professional and there to back you up when needed, consequently some very close friendships were formed.
The management, on the whole, were equally professional, but aat times could be frustrating especially when decisions needed to be made quickly.
The hardest part of the job for me was having to retire after 35 years of service.
diversity of the job - no two days the same
long hours, sometimes working at very short notice
