Who we are

Cheshire West and Chester Council serves 338,000 people (that’s over 157,000 households) across. Our borough is home to the Roman city of Chester, which welcomes over 12 million visitors per year, and Ellesmere Port, a major industrial driver of the region. Our large town centres of Northwich and Winsford are undergoing exciting regeneration projects, and our rural villages and green spaces are postcard perfect.

Our values

We are driven by our THRIVE values: Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money, and Empowerment. They underpin how we act as individuals, as an organisation and guide us in the right direction.

Everything we do is to ensure our residents, communities and the economy continues to THRIVE.

What we do

Local councils are there for people at every stage in life, and provide many more services than people might think. Our staff make a significant, direct impact to people of all ages, abilities and circumstances every day.

For example, at our most basic, we keep our streets and parks clean, and, at our most complex, we help children to be safe and protected by providing them a safe and loving home.

Our job roles include a wide range of jobs from professional and technical roles like solicitors, accountants and social workers, to practical jobs such as street care, social care and libraries.
