HUGE paycut every year!!!!
Customer consultant (Former Employee) –  Norwich, Norfolk21 February 2019
Was a good place to work 3 years ago. They restructure the commission annually and it is ruthless!!! Some earners are £16000 a year worse off!!! Their answer is to sell more cars which has reached its saturation point and is nearly impossible. Uncapped earnings?? The MOST you will earn now is £30000 per year and that is if you work 7 days a week.
Management are an embarrassment. Speaking to people like children and berating staff in front of customers. Talk about a world class customer and colleague experience which is one of their values.
Morning meetings are a beat up session and don't expect a lunch.
This used to be a great place to work but now they have squeezed the life out of their staffs Bank accounts beyond belief. When I started you could save up for holidays, treat your children and move into a bigger house only to have it all taken from underneath you leaving life and mortgage payments a real struggle.
Unless things change carshop will struggle to recruit anyone. Don't be fooled with on par with main dealer and the potential of earning £60k because its a lie.

Demoralising culture
Sales consultant (Current Employee) –  Norwich26 April 2018
Management have favourites and “feed” them into senior roles quickly and without merit.
Spoken to like a child most of the time. Ops/retail manager spend most of weekend shouting and being nasty to staff at the pit. Sales meetings only upbeat and motivational when visitors or new starters in. Majority of time just number bashing unless you’ve been fed of course.
Management unable to change style to different people to help them. One size fits all attitude.
No consistency in the way sales is run. Each team manager has their own rules how they treat their staff.
No meal breaks again unless your a favourite.
Free coffee but no time to get one.
The only pro is the money and the people you work with.
Pros
Free coffee when you get chance, colleagues
Cons
Long hours resulting in less than min wage. No breaks.

Contact Centre: Fun Environment working with great people!
Contact Centre Receptionist (Former Employee) –  Doncaster, South Yorkshire20 February 2018
A fun environment with passionate, warm hearted people.
I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a career change. You will always be provided with various targets to meet which make the job more fun (if you are up for a challenge). The managers are understanding and are always there for guidance and support, should you require it.
Pros
You're always acknowledged for good performance
Cons
Sat down for 8 hours straight.

Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  Northampton, Northamptonshire21 May 2017
Overall CarShop is a good place to work with friendly people around you helping you, the aim of a normal day at work was to help the customers find the right car for themselves and family. The hardest part was this also as it is a long term expenditure the customer needs time and effort from the salesman. I enjoyed working with my team and manager and the best feeling was to see a customer walk away happy. I learnt teamwork, sales techniques and how to work under pressure with targets.
Pros
Free breakfast
Cons
No time to yourself

Always busy and relaxed environment
Customer Experience Advisor (Current Employee) –  Northampton4 November 2016
A typical day at work is always different because there isn't a day that goes by that is the same as the last. Sometimes its quiet and sometimes its busy. Some days are easy and everything goes according to plan and then others nothing goes right.

I have learned how to help and deal with customers and the computer side of car sales as well as the invoicing and viewing the cars on the system.

Management work well at the company and all managers get on well and can help others when required.

Co-workers are easy to get on with and will always try and help when they can.

The hardest part of the job is sometimes there isn't many customers and trying to find work for everyone to do is sometimes a bit difficult.

The most enjoyable part of the job is when you see the customers excited about collecting their new car.
Pros
Plenty of ways to progress your career
Cons
Different days off

total lack of management support, very demanding both mentally and physically
Vehicle road tester (Former Employee) –  Leighton Buzzard17 April 2016
Job itself was fine, took cars out onto the highway for roadtest, any faults we would note down and pass information onto the inspectors.
I learnt the variety of cars and there faults.
management you wouldn't see,if a problem would arise they seemed not interested. After yearly appraisals employees would not hear anymore about there comments or scoring and would not receive the signed copy back from your manager, also holidays and wageslips was difficult and sometimes would never receive acknowledgement regarding holidays booked.
Spent majority of the day walking up and down the car compound, both mentally and physically draining.
The other guys were fine, although the company used a lot of agency workers for short periods time.
Pros
exercise, local position, security
Cons
mentally and physically draining, out in all weathers, no job satisfaction or rewards for hard work
