Sometimes its a fun workplace
Deputy Store Manager (Current Employee) –  Ipswich, Suffolk27 November 2017
The company like to run a small amount of staff and their expectations are a little too high for some people. But not too bad a company to work for. Recently they have changed contract to a 5 day contract instead of 5 days one week then 6 days the next.
Pros
Commission can be slightly above average
Cons
Low basic and short staffed

hard work but rewards are good
Store Manager (Current Employee) –  Bristol, Bristol25 October 2017
Can be hard work at times but commission rates make it all worth while and bonus schemes are also good, always room for overtime however Christmas opening hours are a bit annoying but what do you expect if you get a job in retail!?
Pros
progession is quite easily achieved
Cons
basic wage is low

Carpet Estimator (Former Employee) –  Warrington20 October 2017
Carpetright are a good company to work for. The main focus of any day in store is to provide a good service for customers this includes making sure the shop is clean and well presented alongside good customer interaction. On the whole the job is enjoyable but the hours can be long.
Pros
Staff discount
Cons
Long hours.

Very poor place to work
Warehouse (Current Employee) –  Norwich, Norfolk24 September 2017
I have been employed by carpetright for just under 3 years and have had 5 different managers at that time each with different way of working the store which causes confusion with in the bussiness with who done what and who is doing what. No other employee can stick to there job title as one store is favoured over the other and stores on the region get left out and go understaffed while the favoured store is over staffed. The most enoyable part of the job is being left to work but most days that is undermined by the daily problems the store has to deal with on some acciasions with out a store manager. The only thing i would say was good about Carpetright PLC is that they pay you on time.
Pros
one hour for lunch (If Lucky)
Cons
Stressful enviroment to work and under staffed.

Salesman (Former Employee) –  Luton, London, Stevenage4 September 2017
I learned more about Business from this company than any other so I can't fault it.
Running a carpet store on my own was a big challenge, tough at first but worth it in the end.
Pros
Pay stability
Cons
9-5 routine structure

Nice carpets. Pleasant working environment but I felt that the demands on my time were beyond my job description. I was asked to cover other peoples shifts.

Commission is good if you can sell well.
Long hours but get out what you put in
lots of pressure to hit targets as with any sales roll
needs more incentives to motivate staff

Assistant Manager (Former Employee) –  Bath, Somerset9 July 2017
Expected to work long hours with little reward or praise.
very low basic salary. This meant you needed to commision.
too many KPI or add-ons. this lead to over pressuring customers when selling

I would not be able to give a review about this job as there was so much that happened on a day to day basis from logging calls to resolving IT problems within the in house system and resolving the logged calls within a time frame.
Pros
Best Lunch Hour
Cons
Same in house system

The jobs an easy one to do if your good with numbers that's a great advantage. I've been here almost 20 years now and would like to face a new challenge

Do not work for this company!
Ast Manager (Former Employee) –  UK13 May 2017
Having worked for this firm for 4 long miserable years I know a thing or two. This company must fall soon due to the lack of respect towards its staff. The bullying culture is rife right from the top which filters down without dilution.
They are in my opinion the worst company I have ever worked for. I believe their down fall will be down to how they treat people in general who stand up to what is right and fair. The worst part is how they treat their staff.
Breaks and especially lunch breaks are frowned upon even though they tell you that you are entitled to an hour if you take it then you are frowned upon. So, after a while most staff just follow suit to be accepted. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Over the years, they have somehow managed to recruit highly skilled people who were fantastic and given their all, but then lost them because they walk all over them with total disrespect, treating them like they own you.
They have now probably exhausted the life blood and will only be able to keep hold of the very desperate seeking work or sadly the people who are too afraid to answerback or move on. The best has already gone and now the constant staff turnover will result in their further downfall.
The song writer Cat Stephens made a song that fits this firm perfectly called Mathew & Son. This company is the modern version of that song. They are ruthless bullies who lead by intimidation and bending all the rules to suit them selves. All the toys come out the pram when any one fights back and they are sore losers. Like most bullies, they are week. They will fall and
more... the sooner the better.  less
Pros
Its a job.
Cons
Unrealistic targets, and even if you achieve them, they use it as a stick to beat you with, to do better. Constant psychological pressure in wanting more, and more as more is never enough.

Sales Advisor (Former Employee) –  Bognor Regis20 April 2017
very enjoyable job. learned a lot about selling and keeping a stores appearance nice. excellent management skills, staff were always looked after and helped out as much as needed. the workplace was very enjoyable and productive always stuff to do never standing around getting bored . hardest part would probably be trying to close every sale or try to beat or meet weekly targets at a bad time of year (eg school holidays). the most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people every day helping them choose the right product for them, gaining their trust and helping them with any problems with the products they might have.
