I am not sure whether you mean a big difference between Brunelcare and other organisations or between different Brunelcare jobs, however I will try to answer both.
Brunelcare has a Pay and Grading system in place, each role is evaluated and placed at the appropriate grade, this then defines the correct pay for the role. This ensures that we have equality between departments and between different roles. It also ensures that we do have equality between those roles traditionally carried out by men and those where women are in the majority.
The Pay and Grading system also allows all employees to be able to see how their pay will increase as they develop in their current role or seek promotion. The system sets the appropriate rates for new starters, for fully trained and experienced colleagues and for those who take on additional responsibility.
In terms of how our wage scales are set, these reflect the sector that we work in, the margins that are achievable and the rates that commissioners (usually local councils) are prepared to pay for the service.
We regularly review our rates of pay to ensure that they are in line with the wider market, we were proud to be able to deliver an across the board (excluding directors) pay increase in May 2018.
