bouygues FM GMP contract Manchester
MA (Former Employee) –  Manchester, Greater Manchester13 April 2019
well what can i say, in truth i can only speak about this very small sector of BG, which was clearly thrown together to fill a shortfall when Carillion crash out, that said it really does look wile it was a last minute scramble to grab some PFI money .
the management was absolutely terrible, very little knowledge of FM and its responsibility's, zero training opportunities, zero support, hardly anyone lasted more than a few months in the señor roles (inc HR) the only staff clinging on to jobs are unemployable elsewhere!!!
i witnessed bullying and intimidation of staff from cleaners to managers, and lack of adherence to H&S issues once there were made awere of them.
all and all after over 25 years of FM on the floor and in managerial roles i can honestly say this company is the worst across the bored i have ever seen and will hopefully not be around much longer...

Finishing Manager (Former Employee) –  Bedfordshire13 March 2019
I worked for this bunch on a freelance basis all chiefs who made out they were interested in front of other muppets, they were all chasing there tails, no wonder they are losing millions every year , the job was a shambles I worked very hard to turn it round,in the office the construction director was an ignorant git and all the rest of them I would not employ, in construction you have to know the process and how things work, this is what happens when you don’t have a clue you lose millions every year
Pros
My pay
Cons
Working with idiots ( bouges)

Excellent senior management
supervisor (Former Employee) –  South East9 March 2019
Really good work life balance when I worked for them, excellent senior management / directors, my immediate manager was vindictive and was not even as qualified as his electricians and supervisors, yet always knew how to do it !, unfortunately I couldn't stand working with him any longer, so called it a day, salary was fair for the role and output required, some great people and good systems
Unfortunate choice of senior project manager, other project managers were really good to work with
Pros
great senior management
Cons
to be honest, none really

Housekeeper (Former Employee) –  London, Greater London8 March 2019
Bad management, high staff turnover as a result. No career progression. The only good thing was they paid London living wage and decent sick pay, other than that no good memories of a workplace.

working with Bouygues and great fun, Bouygue treated the employee fairly and if we haven't been transferred to another company, I would be glad to remain working with them.
Bouygues give huge importance to their employee and very tolerant.

Massive Corporate Company turning over £30b with 177,000 employees.
Senior Business Development Manager (Former Employee) –  UK15 February 2019
My responsibility was to develop our advanced manufacturing and research customer base using the phone, email and in person.

Market research for new prospective customers, market sector assessment and budgeting.

Turnkey design and build for process and facility projects for manufacturing and research in advanced technology sectors.

Difficult getting decisions made quickly enough by management and very poor support for on site meetings and proposals. Typical of a massive company.
Pros
Internationally recognised company
Cons
Very political

Way behind the rest of the FM sector
M&E (Current Employee) –  North west10 February 2019
Bouygues are a decent player down south but once outside the M25 forget it. All training must be carried out at HQ in London meaning extra costs for training that could easily be delivered up north. High turn over of staff is never a good sign and there’s plenty of comings and goings. Bouygues biggest problem is they know what they want to be but they are nowhere near there at least in the north. Contract manager level not having P cards when at the likes of Mitie/interserve engineer lever have these gives you some perspective to what I’m getting at.
Pros
Left to get on if your good at your job
Cons
Poor holiday entitlement even at Management level

Absolutely Fantastic people
Site Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Croda Goole30 January 2019
As above an Absolutely Bloody Marvellous set of Serious but fun People to work with. All were Excellently Knowledgeable both within their respective fields and in the greater project delivery Essentials. Sometimes We all had to muck in within in some Very inhospitable environments for the greater good but all raised the bar with aplomb and more importantly a chuckle and grin in our faces.
First Class.
Pros
All Expenses paid
Cons
Project completions always require those extra hours

Terrible company. Not only do they treat staff badly, they cut corners in all aspects of construction. Everything they have built suffers from a prolonged series of defects, that are rarely rectified.

Good company but short term strategy and bad communicators
Preconstruction (Current Employee) –  Regional14 November 2018
I believe there are many positives about Bouygues UK. Work-life balance is fair, there is progression internally and the packages are reasonable.

They have developed a blame and fear culture however which is sprawling and reaches every region unfortunately. Their communication style is poor and inconsistent and there is little employee engagement.
Pros
Agile working, reasonable salaries, progression.
Cons
Hierarchical, erratic short term decision making and strategy, too many chiefs

Purchase Ledger Clerk (Former Employee) –  Brighton17 September 2018
unrealistic work loads and an impossible SAP purchase ledger system to use. Management refuse to accept your work load is unmanageable, their response is you will just have to get it done quicker. The heating in the Brighton office is year round set to tropical and half hour lunch break is barely long enough to walk to a shop to buy your lunch and get back, let alone eat it.
Having worked in similar roles for many different companies I am well qualified to assess an unworkable work load and having used a wide variety of purchase ledger systems, this is hands down the worst I have ever used.

Good company for early in career
Human Resources Officer (Former Employee) –  UK21 August 2018
As other reviews say, when you go to BY expect to let them have their pound of flesh from you. You will be worked, expect to work ridiculous hours and if British you will never be as valued as your French counterparts. However, for early in your career it is a great training platform. If you can work at BY, everywhere else will be easy!
Pros
Pay, people
Cons
Long hours, French/ Brit comparisons

Time wasting company. It lied on recruiting process! fake job adverts.
Engineering (Former Employee) –  exchanged business26 June 2018
Responded on a couple of adverts but it came to nothing but real.
They (their recruitment staff) would contact you via email only to probe ones details basically pretending as if they are working on the case so to justify their lazy staff work ( they have to look busy in the eyes of their boss) so they kind of make up some cases but no real follow ups.
Cons
lies

N/A (Former Employee) –  London27 May 2018
too many negatives to even start. Treated deplorably, by management and directors that did not follow processes and led by assumption than facts. A career with these is only going to be successful as long as you are not very good, and say yes, even when you know its wrong.

Aprendi gracias a esta empresa la importancia de ser concienzudo, implicarse y hacer un seguimiento personal y estrecho de cada tarea que realizas porque no se puede suponer que la gente vaya a realizar todo como esta planeado si no estas encima del tema.

Construction Manager (Former Employee) –  London, Greater London17 April 2018
Bouygues is a company that will give you the opportunity to learn and work independently. You can have a lot of responsibilities if you want so. Working long hours is the norm
