Care Assistant (Former Employee) – Greater Manchester – 30 August 2018
Very fast paced, not always time to sit and chat with residents or families, no two days are the same, so lucky in one way. Meals can be up and down, not always a second alternative or second helping, considering the fees that are charged, its outrageous, one of the hardest parts of the job is that it seems like "rush rush rush" to get the residents ready in a morning like being on a time limit sometimes. Change of management doesn't always bode well, specially when they seem to have no interest in staff and use foul language in the office. Short staffed becomes a problem, but you are stil expected to work and care for 40+ residents no matter what. No flexibility in hours either, even though borough care advertise it.
Care Assistant (Former Employee) – Wellcroft – 15 July 2019
I worked at one of the Borough Care homes from 2014 - 2016. This was my first care job and I loved it, the staff were so lovely, & I've met some genuine friends whilst I worked there, I only left as I wanted to go to the hospital, But even then I stayed casual for abit. I've considered going back on a few occasions, as the home I worked in was so welcoming and lovely. And the home manager was amazing, his door was always open & helped me loads. Shame he left!
I think the pay could be abit better, ie: enhancements for weekends or nights. And I had a few bad experiences with agency staff that I worked with on nights, who clearly didn't care as much as regular staff and was only interested in sleeping
Manager and staff during my time there, residents, welcoming and clean home
