Always short staffed. Jobs are horrid, expect you to be able to split your self in to a million people and gets everything done in an hour. Management have no idea who to speak to people. No matter what you do it’s never good enough
Bookers isn't a fair company, most of the time, managers are jubious to work with colleagues as most members are insubordinate towards authority. The Salary is laughable, due to the amount of work we have to do, it isn't surprising that workers come and go.
I was very rarely paid correctly. expected to work after hours for free and treated like a child regularly. Branch assistants are expected to work until breaking point whilst the managers eat takeaways in the office. Staff are not treated equally and the atmosphere is depressing, most staff will go off sick as it’s the only way they are able to escape this prison.
Have to chase to get paid correctly, unpaid hours
only been with the company a week but already enjoying it,staff and management are great, plus good hours and weekly pay.Only negative is a bit more cleaniniless in the staff areas ie canteen
weekly pay, good hours, friendly staff and good management who will allow people to progress
a bit more cleaning in staff areas etc
I have worked in booker for over a year now. I have learned a lot in this time. Good, fun, approachable managers and supervisor. Friendly co workers all supportive of each others responsibilities and everyone is treated the same.
Free tea and coffee, uniform supplied, discount good relationships with customers
A decent part-time seasonal job with overtime on offer and reasonable pay. Generally a good working atmosphere but often understaffed so the work can be very demanding, sometimes with unrealistic targets to meet.
Weekly pay, good staff and customers, overtime on offer
Wages commonly incorrect, unrealistic targets, poorly equipped for busy periods
Management think they know what they are doing, yet brings Morale down, Staff turnover is very high. Get forced to be break back for minimum wage. Don't care about staff at all. Happy to kick people out of their jobs and cut their hours. As long as they get paid and get their bonus' for keeping costs down. A lot of management favouritism.
Colleagues are great
Poor pay, no morale, run by muppets
Everyday the same , poorly managed by higher management running the guts out of people, not fun, I would seriously advise people to look elsewhere a bonus scheme that is never achieved due to poor staff training, very low paid and little motivation
Quarterly bonus if achieved my whole team
Long hours, poor rate of pay, bad management
Booker is an okay place to work in the short term, but it isn't a long term-position. The days are long, usually starting at 7am and not ending until 5pm. Two short 30min breaks are given which isn't a lot when you're on your feet, up ladders and moving stock around for hours on end. Management are generally good, and willing to help. Customer, being business owners, can be awfully rude and condescending which starts to grate on you after a while. Pay is good, and is above NMW.
Colleagues, Decent Wage
Long Hours, Rude Customers, Repetitive Work
Work in general is isnt too hard given the opportunity to build rapport with many regular customers will typically be taken advantage of and stretched to do a million jobs at once management typically are unorganised and do not plan overtime or cover holidays in advance, will instead ask you last minute on the day.
big discount in the cafe
