Workplace culture is very open and good to learn, collaborate with co-workers, cross-department, cross company, even cross region projects. Do the right thing.

Great culture, poor management
Analyst (Current Employee) –  London31 January 2019
Great culture, poor management, flexible hours but random project. Difficult to grow and merit not based on result but relationships. Young and dynamic but not serious enough when it counts

Muitas possibilidades de progressão
Content and Data Analyst (Former Employee) –  London, UK11 January 2019
Lots to learn about the software and financial industries. You'll find the place is highly collaborative and people work to get stuff done. The engineering culture is great.

You will deal with legacy technology. Even though a lot has been done to upgrade things, I don't think you'll ever get away from the legacy.

Would help to defer to folks who are at ground zero for many products. There are folks who really know what should be done, but don't get to.

Acceptable
Project Manager (Former Employee) –  London, Greater London18 May 2018
This work place is acceptable, but no more. The hours are very long, while pay is not good at all. The workplace is absolutely secure, but people are being demanded quite a lot.

bloomberg is one of the biggest companies and has a lot of benefits but can mentally get very tiring. The environment within Bloomberg is amazing most people get free drinks and snacks.

This is for Commercial Media department only
Commercial Marketing & Events partnerships manager (Former Employee) –  London11 January 2018
A typical day: working hours were from 8am till 6:30 pm. It was a daily review if you got a full hour for lunch

what I learned: if you don't keep up, give in to the culture you wont survive. Bloomberg is like Marmite, you either love it or hate it

Management: a manage up culture. incredibly varying in abilities

Workplace: incredible facilitites, spacious, pantry and fish were always a bonus. but day light is not a plus. Took Vitamin D tablets

Hardest part: not being listened too, and being ruled by the US even though they say EMEA is the 2nd head quarters, there is no autonomy or transparency, and we always found out things 2nd or 3rd hand after decisions had been made.

enjoyable part: all the volunteer opportunities through philanthropy and the giving aspects for employees. I started up the wellness programme and sports teams which grew participation levels to great numbers. all things outside my paid role were the most satisfying. the people and ethos in general is good
Pros
free food, extra curricular activities, volunteer opportunities
Cons
Long hours

Great Company to start work, amazing people. Very friendly and helpful. Overall, a great place to start a career in finance. The company also offers continuous Training opportunities. After a while becomes repetitive and management is focused on numbers, also not very experienced.
Pros
Pantry and continuous education
Cons
Management and focus on numbers

Good starting point for career in fintech
Data Analyst (Current Employee) –  London, Greater London3 September 2017
Title is misleading because you don't perform analysis in your day-to-day role. Much time is spent supporting vendors with answering questions and sourcing data online. Once you've proven yourself you get to work on bigger projects and if you want to become a team leader in the future you need to prove you can successfully do agile project management. The workplace culture is boring, depends on the team, my team never went for lunch or after work drinks.
Pros
Free food, work from home, health benefits
Cons
Long hours, no career opportunities, inexperienced middle management

Nice training opportunities
Analyst (Current Employee) –  London, Greater London6 August 2017
Good training opportunities, however, the skills learned on the job are less applicable in other settings. I would recommend this job as an easy entrance into finance if you otherwise struggle.

Everyone at Bloomberg is a dinosaur. People have been with the company for 10+ years. Zero attention to people coming from other backgrounds and very high expectations (innovate without a budget, resources, training or knowledge).
Very little guidance from higher management. If you ask a question, you are asked the same question.
You learn only by asking around, ZERO TRAINING.
It is a shame because it's a great company.
I agree with other comments: you can't be yourself.
Pros
Pension, lunch, open 24 hours
Cons
open 24 hours, unrealistic expectations, fake people
