I was kept busy rushing around in the community providing the best care possible to my clients according to their individual care plans. I learnt how to manage my time to be punctual to all my clients. I learnt how to work as a team, because sometime we have to work in pairs. Communication is key in these jobs.
I learn to use my own initiative and manage my caseloads. At times I help to train new staff, show them how things are done which we call shadowing. The most enjoyable part is communicating with my clients. Each client is different and you can learn new things is you listen to them talk about their life experience. Learn about their culture and their likes and dislikes.
This job can be challenging at times, but with experience you will be able to manage yourself with any difficulties.
The Agency provides all the necessary training, so I was able to progress as I went along.
