I worked often as a Cashier. Well over 15 years of cashiering at several different gas station spots.

Pros
Managers would cash your checks.
Cons
Security was lacking.

Specialist, Business Account Management (Former Employee) –  Chicago, IL26 June 2019
My first SAP exposure. Learned a lot while on the job, like familiarity with the screens, transaction codes, process flows, reports, etc. in SAP. This work inspired me to make a career in SAP consulting and hence, I trained in the area of Financial Accounting to become a consultant.

Moving jobs offshore
one of few survivors (Current Employee) –  chicago, il7 December 2018
The local economy is based on local jobs. Unfortunately, BP has chosen the strategy of offshoring as many jobs as possible. Every 2-3 years is a major reduction effort to move jobs to cheaper countries.
Pros
benefits
Cons
job security poor, stress high, management does not want to discuss moving jobs, just do it.

Going through change
Anonymous (Former Employee) –  Chicago Area15 October 2018
Company has been going through change over the last several years. Strong focus on cost cutting and "doing more with less" which translates to longer work hours and stress. Management is inconsistent - you may have a very good / strong manager or you may have a manager that needs further development - really luck of the draw. Benefits are quite good which makes people want to stay - even when management is less desirable.

Cons
Inconsistent management, constant change

Challenge
Sr. Human Resources Manager (Current Employee) –  Chicago, IL18 September 2018
Extremely fast paced and relationship based environment. Organization is continuously Branding and Re-Branding itself. North West Indiana and the Greater Chicago Area weather can be brutal in the Winter. Location of plant facility is not for the faint of heart. Salary and general compensation is high to attract people to the area for a reason. If you love a challenge and constant change then this is an awesome fit for anyone looking to progress their career.
Pros
Negotiate your worth upfront when looking to join this company
Cons
Rigid culture and limited flexibilty and advancement

temporary job
Supervisor/Cashier (Current Employee) –  Chicago, IL17 August 2018
There's no room for growth but management helps adapt to your schedule. Money isn't great at all and that's exactly why its a temporary job. I've learned a lot about a business and wish to pursue my own business one day.
Pros
Flexible hours, Sick days are allowed and you don't do much there.
Cons
Time goes by really slow.

Project Coordinator & Research Analyst (Former Employee) –  Chicago, IL27 June 2018
Don't pay attention to the media with regards to BP. As an employee it is a great company to work for. Proof is in the fact that the negative press has not diminished BP's efforts to be the best. Employees are truly the most important asset the company has and they know it. The key to succeeding at BP is to constantly learn, grow and connect.
Pros
Development is encouranged and supported, learning opportunities, team building, access to greatness
Cons
The outside world might question someone's choice about working for a global company
