Marine Engineer, Full Time (Current Employee) – Portsmouth, ENG – 3 February 2016
> typical day would be safe and steady but it had many rush days, it had it's dry days too. > the mechanical fitters were a varied bunch, from the quiet to the rowdy but all were good guys who got the job done primarily. > management was mostly really good. > the bad points to the job were the many small and awkward spaces to squeeze into with heavy equipment. but it did keep it interesting and kept me fit. > good points were the safe working practices the yard over, great personalities and getting to work inside warships on a daily basis. > from working in Portsmouth naval base I learned about gas turbines diesel generators and the removal and inspection of mechanical equipment.
