My immediate manager was excellent.
His manager however was very micro managing.
I was no allowed flexitime despite the rest of the team having it and WFH seemed to be selective too.
Hourly rate was very low for such an employer too.

Management Assistant (Former Employee) –  Preston, Lancashire28 July 2017
From my work experience at BAE systems, I was able to further develop my numeracy and literacy skills by gathering information and data (i.e. selecting and analysing appropriate information and data, recording data in an appropriate format). Additionally I was able to learn about what the company does; absorbing, learning, and asking questions with senior management office staff about the daily work duties and responsibilities.

BAE Systems are a great employer of huge numbers of staff needed to maintain its productivity as a leading Aerospace contractor supplying to Air Forces and Navies of the World. It is a great place for working for future advancement in engineering or other roles. They are good at training, have a great record of compliance with health and safety regulations and for looking after staff with things like a social club and lots of activities and opportunities such as flying and charity support of events. They are a superb employer for rates of pay and for achieving skills in a job that you can be proud of. They have a great reputation as a fair employer and one that many thousands aspire to work for, they have a good name as an employer and people respect those who work or have worked here.

SNR Purchasing Engineer (Former Employee) –  Preston, ENG18 April 2014
Worked at BAE SYSTEMS FOR 33 YRS, there was lots of work everyday and you always learned something new about the job that would help you look at each job carefully before making a decision on the way forward, the Management backed you all the way and were fully supportive of the way you handled the suppliers, all your co-workers helped make the job easy due to their knowledge of their equipment.
The hardest part of the job was to travel abroad late at night and have to attend meetings early morning and be able to make your points to a supplier even if you were tired out.
The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to meet people and see you plans put into practice and seeing them work then your management would praise you for this which made the job worth while.
Pros
being taken for lunch and evening meals and being liked by suppliers
Cons
sometimes you worked long hours but it was worth it.

Commercial Estimator (Current Employee) –  Warton, Preston26 August 2013
Hard working members of staff driven to achieve the best for the company all customers. Customer focus environment with ambition to grow and an individual consistently implemented.

Most enjoyable part of being an estimator is winning the bid that you worked so hard constructing. Hardest part can be the long hours when working on a large estimate, but this is part of the role, and something everyone understands.

BAE Systems have provided me with a great career to date and i would highly recommend the company.
