The company works on ambitious projects, while people are very collaborative and friendly. It is important to have good expertise at the start, but even more important it is to keep learning as you go.
Very laidback place to work with excellent working colleagues and very helpful with any issues you may have in your working day.
Unfortunately I was under a relatively new line manager who made working in is department very difficult not just for myself but many members of staff. But if you take the line manger our of the picture then working there is one of the best places I have ever worked.
Be Smart And Be Yourself. Work Hard And Do What You Can .Never Do Things To Put Others In Danger Follow All Rules Health And Safety Is Always A First Priority.. Any Ideas Are Great To Come Up With. And Good Luck
AZ is a company with its own culture. Collaboration is key but this often gets in the way of decision making and means that you need to be able to cope with this frustration in order to work here.
The workload is excessive and long hours are required.
A very large corporate organisation which can be very different depending on the part of the organisaiton you are in. Overally complex and beuarocratic at times. Management structure complex and confusing. IT systems too many and not geared to business value add.
Great company to work for, varied roles. Excellent pay and generous annual leave. Secure job lots of benefits. Only down side is majority of roles are shift work, which works for a lot of people I guess.
Work Experience (Former Employee) - Speke - 22 October 2019
here I done a weeks work experience and it gave a good view on job life, everyone was kind and welcoming and had an all around positive energy. Here i done a week placement which involved problem solving, group activities and getting a real look into work life. While i was there it taught me the importance of the customer and what is sold, as AstraZeneca is a pharmaceutical company and produces life saving vaccines therefor if any part of the manufacturing process is effected negatively the process will be postponed and will take longer to give the patient what they need this also taught me the importance of every role and how everyone should be working at their optimum performance.

AZ / medimune considering is a massive pharmaceutical company doesn't pay their staff very well. Employees are highered as contractors and despite the promise of a renewed contract or possible perminate position unless you "fit" in don't expect any of this. The divide between contracter and perminate staff is very noticeable
You are very much treated as a number
Near the airport
Treated like a number, 12 hour shifts. The pay isn't great, no career progression. Bad management. Poorly run labs, unsafe working conditions.
As a scientist you are very much encouraged to develop and are given ample opportunity to progress your career. As someone not in a science based role you are not regarded as highly. Managers praise you for the work you do but once you hit the salary threshold for your role further advancement is limited.
