Dysfunctional from top down
Clinical Development Employee (Former Employee) –  Pleasanton, CA23 February 2018
Great company potential hindered by extreme incompetence from all clinical line function leaders. Employment is a revolving door at this company because talented folks are recruited for their expertise but not allowed to do their jobs. Project work is constantly being done over and over (beyond reasonable circumstances) due to lack of planning and scope. People leading line functions are not experienced enough to have worked cross functionally with other teams to see how each group contributes to the needs and successes of other functions. No potential for advancement and lack of clarity of what level distinction roles and responsibilities.

The day to day part of the job at Astex is easy for a qualified person but the hardest part is dealing with the people themselves, lack of decision making, communication and collaberation unless you part of the "in-club" at the top.
Pros
Easy job, and good pay
Cons
Management, communication, morale
