Asda is collapsing, you are expected to work like a slave for low pay, staff are leaving and not being replaced, putting even more of a burden on the remainers.

I was a section leader on service dept, Department was totally understaffed and it was getting to the point of one or two colleagues on a till on an evening shift. Customers shouting at me to “get people on a till”. And managers moaning and having a go at me when I called queue busters....had enough and left to go to a job where I am appreciated !

The management at least in the Home shopping department are shockingly bad. We are not allowed even 5 seconds of chatting without the manager shouting at you. When I first started no one told me where to go, who to talk to etc. Took about two weeks for my pass to work. I had to learn about breaks etc from fellow staff. Been told to skip or go to break late if you still have items to pick but if you do finish your load but over an hour since your break was meant to start then you are not allowed to go to break. Not allowed to have toilet breaks unless during break. This is at Hereford Asda might be different elsewhere. Most of the fellow works in all departments were lovely, friendly and welcoming.

Sadly my temporary contract ended, had a good run for my money as initially had a 6 month contract but managed to get other roles for maternity cover. I was working at the Head Office, had several great bosses and worked with some fab teams. The part time hours fitted to n with personal life and for once in my career I got the work/life balance sorted! I genuinely loved going into work and hope to return sometime.

Asda Wakefield is a genuinely awful place to work, the managers are dreadful on nights and days, it’s such a shame some of the people there are kind, but what can you do. Don’t work there.

Under staff, have to do 2-4 ppls work, managers are very rude on shop floor and it all depends if your face fits. training is less than 5 min long and if your not trained or not you still do the job. I always asked for overtime because I cant live on that wage and all they said no because they are on budget. etc etc etc
