The organisation is purely money focused with no care regarding the customers or staff. You are not rewarded or even thanked for putting in extra effort. Turnover is incredibly high as there is no progression or training available. Pay rises don't match inflation and the position salaries are significantly lower than industry standard. This was acknowledged by the CEO of the company however nothing has been put in place to rectify this.

Always something to do. Support teams are stretched about as thinly as they can be, such that they can just about cope with incoming issues.
In a typical day, you will be managing your own workload balancing incoming calls, updating customers, trying to fix their issues, and doing background admin. The vast majority of employees are competent, friendly, and very willing to help out, which eases the load slightly. Management is incredibly varied. Can range from completely lax and hands-off approaches to aggressive micromanagement. Depending on where you fall in the company, there could either be a perpetual expectation to go above and beyond, or absolutely no repercussion for not doing your job at all.

Advanced is a lacklustre group that has a very low bar to entry. Whilst a good thing for school leavers/graduates there is also no formal training in place for you to upskill.

There are minimal opportunities to develop outside of your own role, some management are more proactive at developing their staff than others but on the whole opportunities are few and far between.


An internal video training platform was recently provided but has almost zero value for any technical/support staff (This is a software/managed services company!).


Applying for internal positions is poorly managed unless you're applying for positions that generate revenue (chargeable services/sales). If you apply for any technical positions expect to wait several weeks, if not months, to hear back if you even hear back about it all! This includes promotion within the same department.


If you want to join a company where you can coast along with minimum effort sign up now! You can literally coast through annual performance reviews by sitting on your mobile all day or watching YouTube videos for the majority of your shift.


The only upsides are the variety of work, the majority of staff are pleasant and helpful and there's free tea/coffee. Outside of this, get what you can out of it and run!

Jobs tend to pay OK, but the jobs are extremely inefficient, with most things being done Manually and with extra steps for no apparent reason except 'that is how they have always been done'. Management in some departments are badly chosen, have no people skills and cause fear or trepidation in their employees.
Any problems are not usually heard, or are dismissed out of hand.


On the other hand, most employees are young which leads to a fun culture after hours, and making friends is easy.

Terrible management who treat adults like children, extreme micro managing and no genuine progression.
The salary does not reflect the work you are required to do. Advanced cannot retain staff it is a revolving door. Service desk manager has no clue and has no technical knowledge. All the positive reviews are probably the marketing team making them up.

Everyone is miserable, management are terrible, staff are treated as though they're compltely disposable (you are), you will be over worked and underpaid, don't waste your time.

The only good thing about this was the team and other members of staff that you worked with, who have created a great environment together and the training for this job.
The managers have no idea about their products and enjoy making sure they know you're in charge, with a "just do it" attitude, without knowing what they're really asking you to "just do".


If you enjoy being shouted at by angry customers all day then this is the job for you! With very little support from managers and watching them making cuts in places where they're needed and the training is lacked, bringing in consultants who have been working on products for a long time, but are happy that they aren't working for advanced.


The most enjoyable part of this job is the friday when you can leave and get a few drinks with the co-workers, but don't be too loud, or you'll get a telling off on monday.

Worked at the Derby office in 2017. Most of the people were friendly teamworkers with one notable exception.

Poor use of multiple duplicate systems to support software rollout causing ineffecient handling of too open comms with customers.


Lack of direction and probably a very short horizon future for the office i worked in.


Ineffecient agile despite some of the devs being on site. Mega attrition rate.

Company had previously grown by acquiring software houses around the UK. This meant many satellite offices. So when the business was sold to VC's in 2015 they decided to centralise the satellites into two main hubs - Birmingham and Swindon.
Offshored coding and quality assurance to India.

Experienced staff have left in all areas of the business, especially customer support. New staff are joining at a fast pace, straight from University, with little or no training. Advanced was a good company to work for, but this has been spoilt by the takeover, pace of change and the lack of flexibility.

Management expect you to work 2/3 hours over your regular hours everyday and are not even grateful for it. Very high staff turnover. No investment in developing staff. No progression what so ever. Management are too negative. Salary is very basic and not so great compared to rival companies. Glad i left and got a job at a firm where they value you more.
