A great place to work
Sales Executive (Current Employee) –  Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire7 February 2019
I really enjoy working at Barr. There is a great mix of people who are all willing to help out and get the job done.

There are also lots of opportunities to progress which you see happening regularly across the business.
Pros
Buy/sell holidays, buy shares, box at the Hydro
Cons
Not a city centre location

Welcoming people and great brands
Marketing (Current Employee) –  Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire5 February 2019
I'd recommend AG Barr/Barr Soft Drinks to anyone looking for a new role. It has a welcoming vibe, nice people, and the roles offered are broad with good opportunities to grow and progress. It has an iconic range of brands - the best known being IRN-BRU, Rubicon and Strathmore water. The people work hard but are well rewarded in return. There is a good mix of people who have been with the business and people who are new to the industry, which makes for a nice mix.
Pros
Career progression, pay and reward
Cons
HQ isn't in a city centre

Abysmal if not worse
Engineer (Current Employee) –  Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire9 January 2019
Used to be a great place to work until 2016 then they changed the shifts and they lost nearly all the experience.
Too many unqualified people in authority meaning the place runs to fail.
Bullying in 2018 simply unacceptable. And is rife!
Too many bosses completely clueless.
Has a nice colorful canteen which has a better OEE than factory but the shredder works best in here . mistake after mistake..blind leading the blind.
Fear for the future.. don't go here unless your a relative of the clique.
Pros
Nothing now
Cons
Bosses, wage's, moral etc etc

The main reason I liked working for them was the salary and hours of work you got it was early in the morning so you were finished early on in the day.
Pros
early finish

bad managers

Anonymous (Current Employee) –  Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire4 October 2018
Barr isn't without the challenges most companies face these days in looking to fit everyone's needs whilst making difficult operational decisions. However I have seen positive changes taking place and I'm looking forward to continuing to be part of that journey. Barr's biggest selling point is without doubt the people and their work ethic. I enjoy working at Barr, having come from a company with a toxic culture, I would recommend working here for sure.

Good place to work
HR Advisor (Current Employee) –  Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire4 October 2018
Good place to work, the people make the business through a 'teamwork' culture. Perks of the job are also competitive, and there is lots of career development opportunities for people who are eager to learn and grow.
Pros
Free juice, access to shows at the hydro, medical package
Cons
Not a lot

Worst decision I ever made. Stay clear!!!!!
Line Technician (Former Employee) –  Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire2 August 2018
The managers are all promoted through the old pals act.

Which has resulted in the place being ran by a failed Engineer, a Cook and a puppet.

Teams leaders run shifts under a bully mentally and will make life hard for people that don't comply.

Engineering has a high turn over with 14 engineers leaving in the last 2 years.

Factory manager regularly overruled quality manager when products had high micro counts, rather than put them on hold.

Salary is well bellow industry standard and your skills will diminish as nothing gets fixed.

The moral is the lowest I have ever experienced and will drain the life from you.

Only work here if it is your last resort.
Pros
When your shift ends.
Cons
Under valued, soul destroying

Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) –  Moston2 May 2018
Managers are tyrannical if challenged on anything you will suffer. People drag their feet just to extend the day then you are expected to work overtime even if you have commitments. Great job for a yes-man willing to suck up to bosses and never question anything.

Avoid the newcastle branch!
Warehouse Assistant (Former Employee) –  Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear24 April 2018
Avoid working at the Newcastle branch. Terribly run. The manager is absolutely useless and clueless. A branch totally on its last legs. Will close soon for sure as a result of bad management. Losing customers rapidly as they realise it's cheaper to go to wholesale cash & carry stores. But, as said the way it is run is its major downfall.

Very Unprofessiinal!
Engineering Technician (Current Employee) –  Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire25 June 2017
A company with a "Jobs for the Boys" mentality.

Be the Managers friend and crawl a lot and you will do well.

Managers and Team Leaders promoted from shop floor with no experience outside Barrs resulting in unskilled, uneducated management trying to run the place.

HR department terrible with job applicants not getting a single response from them.

Machines are dirty and company too focused on filling the warehouse to worry about cleaning it.

Engineers not given time to repair machines properly. Machines are poor quality and we are expected to make them work well. Stop buying cheap machines.

Factory staff moral is very low and management don't notice or care.

Terrible place to work.

Brand Manager (Current Employee) –  London, Greater London9 May 2017
A really unique and fun place to work.
The company place great emphasis on personal development and offer a great deal of support in this area.
The company is able to move quickly to react to consumer trends making it one of the most successful FMCG companies in the UK.

Negative soul destroying environment
Technical Operator (Former Employee) –  Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire14 January 2017
A g barr when I first started working for them was a good place to work they valued hard work and gave people credit where it was due. When I left it was completely different managers where totally inept and negative. Their negative attitude spread across the factory floor and created a working environment that was unbearable. They tell lies and they bully people who are willing to take it. Anyone who stands up to them becomes a target and treated like dirt whether they are good at their job or not. Their mindset is you can't be seen to challenge them, so if you do they try and make you suffer. Would advise anyone thinking of joining them to explore all other avenues 1st not a nice place to work.
Pros
Free juice
Cons
No bonus, no bank holidays disparity in pay, inept management
