This Traineeship Opportunity is unwaged Work Experience as part of an entry to work programme.

This is a 12 Week Traineeship placement.

If you are interested in working with animals or considering a career as a vet this is a great opportunity to gain some hands on experience.

The successful Trainee will have tasks including:
  • Handling of various reptiles
  • Feeding
  • Cleaning
  • Visits to vets
  • Basic admin tasks
  • Update website, Facebook
  • If have the aptitude and interest, may become involved in customer service
Mondays are college based days with Tutorials and Functional Skills training at the college for those qualified below GCSE grade C, English and Maths (five hours)

Tues - Fri The placement will be 4 hours a day 10am - 2pm

This traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is work preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high quality work experience placement.

2. Are you aged 16-18 and qualified below Level 3 (A level) or 19 to 23 and not yet achieved a Full Level 2 (5 GCSE’s at grade C or above inclusive of Math and English)

3. Think you could be ready for employment or an apprenticeship within 6 months

The centre is expanding over the coming months and so is looking into taking on additional staff or apprentices, so there may be opportunity within the organisation.

After successful completion of the Traineeship placement, you will receive a certificate of completion, exit interview with written feedback and a letter of reference to support future job applications.

This placement is primarily with the reptiles unit of the centre, not with small domesticated animals. Although there may be opportunity.

An understanding of the basic care of reptiles, including food, temperatures and handling, would be beneficial before starting the placement.

The location is not directly accessible by bus.

It includes a 20 min walk from Patcham village, so check the address before applying.
