Senior Program/Project Manager

Reporting to the Director of the Global Services PMO, you will work as both a program and project manager focused on a key Sandvine customer. This will include communicating with all stakeholders and working with integrated product teams (who are responsible for the execution of their project and its impact on the program) to monitor cost, schedule, and technical performance of the projects, while working to ensure the ultimate success of the overall program. This role evangelizes and ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables in compliance with the New Product Generation and portfolio management processes.

  • Oversee and manage multiple projects at both the project and the program level - that are complex in nature, involving for example, a disparate multi-disciplinary team, up to $1M+, 6-12+ months duration, new technology, multiple unknowns
  • Determine and coordinate the sharing of resources among their constituent projects to the overall benefit of the program
  • Drive the end-to-end integration of consistent project management and product life cycle management methodologies, best practices and common terminology across the organization
  • Regularly capture, analyze and communicate project- and program-level status, performance and financial metrics
  • Act as mediator to achieve win-win scenarios across various stakeholders
  • Lead a post-mortem process for each project to ensure lessons learned are well communicated and incorporated into future projects
  • Support the Global Services PMO in establishing automated end-to-end project, program and portfolio management and reporting

  • Demonstrated passion and an upbeat attitude in leading product development programs to their successful completion
  • PM certification, and a member in good standing, and knowledgeable about related professional standards a must
  • A university degree plus 10+ years of progressive program/project management leadership experience and responsibility at a global telecommunications company
  • Proven expertise in leading program and/or projects through all the process areas while effectively managing 3 rd party vendors and cross-functional teams across multiple geographies – with focus on interaction with (and within) a large corporate entity
  • Excellent presentation skills to senior and executive management
  • Capable of generating and presenting a program summary report (including scope, cost, schedule, quality) and metrics (i.e., CPI, SPI, EV) at each gate
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative risk analysis and process, out of bounds and change control board process, change management and communication strategies, vendor management, parametric estimating
  • Excellent track record in exercising good judgment through determining what’s important and what’s not and making sound, timely decisions
  • Execution and results orientation who effectively rallies the team around a common business goal, creates a sense of urgency, builds an agreed-upon plan and then drives results
  • Very familiar with software development environment and product life cycle management processes, best practices and terminology
  • Well developed influencing, problem-solving, collaboration and organizational skills

  • Familiar with engineering process design and implementation techniques
  • Experience in ERP project management implementations
  • Lean Six Sigma methodologies – Black belt or Green Belt a plus
