I am looking for designate general managers to work for one of Britain's best known and successful leisure brands, their stable of businesses includes some of the largest and most successful holiday parks throughout the country. With an average sized business turning over between £6m and £12m it is essential that candidates can demonstrate a really strong record in achieving bottom line targets in a large multi faceted leisure business that encompasses a multi million pound sales and hospitality operation. It is likely that successful candidates will currently be in a flagship family orientated GM role or a multi site position and you are now looking for a fresh challenge in a business that is dynamic and multi faceted.
The role of GM is both complex and demanding, you will be responsible for thousands of holidaymakers each week coming to your site and in the peak summer season your food and beverage operation can be turning over up to 100K/week with a family and junior entertainment programme that is full on for both adults and juniors. Add in a sporting and splash activities that are getting more comprehensive every year and a peak level staffing of in excess of 200 staff then you begin to appreciate the variety and magnitude of the position. Underpinning market leading service standards and huge health and safety considerations across vast indoor and outdoor spaces is the need to drive the sale of high ticket new fixed berth caravans through a large sales team who are managed through strict KPIs.
Candidates are initially introduced to the business through a comprehensive training programme across a number of existing sites before you are placed on site as the GM of your own unit. It is essential that candidates have a thorough understanding of p and ls and who have both an entrepreneurial flair and plenty of common sense as the GMs are given high levels of autonomy to meet and exceed their annual budgets. Starting salaries are dependant on experience but the ball park is between 50 and 60K with accommodation on site. Salaries are reviewed on a regular basis and there is the opportunity to earn huge annual bonuses and the ability to earn between 50 and 100% of your basic is very realistic.
