Lead the team responsible for the financial and business performance support for the Retail & Direct business unit (within commercial directorate). Responsible for driving the business to achieve its financial and related targets, dealing with internal and external stakeholders and across directorates/IAG
Job Dimensions/Measures
Business area responsibilities include: ba.com, all global call centres, ancillary revenue (incl. inflight retail, paid seating, paid for upgrades), group wide digital marketing and the BA Holidays subsidiary. Operating Expenditure £350m (including 1,300 heads, excluding property costs) Ancillary revenue £120m p.a within R&D, £300m group wide Project Expenditure £10m p.a BA Holidays subsidiary 4 direct reports (TBC)
Principal Accountabilities
Provide a single point of contact for finance to General Manager Retail & Direct and senior team, including the MD and FD of the BA Holidays subsidiary business
Drive and monitor progress towards achievement of targets; propose and champion any necessary corrective actions to ensure delivery
Provide input and challenge into decision making from both a business and financial perspective. Ensure all major business decisions are taken with sufficient understanding and buy-in to the financial consequences
Produce annual Finance Plan and Business Plans for R&D and ensure team are fully bought in the business plan/financial plan for their areas
Own the financial strategy behind the R&D plans - in particular the call centre 5yr vision, the ba.com strategy and the BA Holidays and ancillary revenue generation plans
Lead the finance support for the R&D project portfolio (including ba.com and call centre investments) developing robust business cases and responsible for ongoing tracking and control of costs and benefits
Lead the supplier cost reduction programme across all external supplier spend; including financial support for contract extensions and retenders
Ensure cross directorate buy-in to R&D strategies from a financial perspective Establish effective internal controls within the business and deliver an adequate overall level of internal control

Essential Qualifications
Degree and/or significant experience
Accounting qualification
Experience
Provision of finance support in a commercial environment
Influencing decision-making to ensure financial consequences are taken into account
Budgetary control and business/financial planning
Project evaluation and control
Proven capability to prioritise work, work under pressure and operate to tight deadlines
Expertise
Ability to devise and follow through on profit improvement programmes
Ability to develop financial cases for complex business strategies including evaluation of insource/outsource opportunities
Provision of leadership to the business to drive achievement of financial and business targets
