My client based in Witham - Essex is currently recruiting for a 1st/2nd Line Support Technician to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in support with a successful, friendly and exciting company.
As Technical Support technician you will be responsible for running the company helpdesk on a daily basis. You will ensure that end-user problems and helpdesk tickets are resolved in a timely manner.
The successful applicant needs to be motivated, organised and proactive in improving security and redundancy. Knowledge of Apple Mac would be beneficial.
You will need to be flexible, personable and keen to be part of the team. My client is looking to have an adaptable team that works together from 1st to 3rd line as opposed to operating support in lines.
Roles and Responsibilities
As IT Support technician, you will be competent in the completion of the standard IT Support role; in addition to this your core areas of attention will be as follows:
Manning the technical helpdesk and providing 1st and 2nd line support to all staff
Work to maximise uptime across infrastructure and servers throughout the business
Act as a point of escalation for IT queries
Oversee the use of the core backup systems ( Exchange/AD )
Ensure that help desk tickets are picked up and handled within business SLA’s
Provide support and training to staff to ensure they are able to reach the maximum potential of their software
Ensure all systems are audited
Where possible work to ensure that business best practices are observed
All desktop PC problems, such as crashed programs and defective hardware
Printers - Changing of toner, correcting paper jams, any other problems
Releasing and diagnosing E-Mails
Setting up new users on AD and the MIS
Setting up new machine’s ( both PC and Mac ) for all users
Supporting of staff - Showing users how to accomplish tasks and correct problems, installation of programs and hardware
Management of multiple system backup software and hands-on use of tape drives
Assist in the administration and support of Windows Servers
Over and above these tasks, you will be expected to deal with any ad-hoc requests and report any problems to your manager that are above your level of experience.
