The Head of Software Development/CTO is responsible for leading the software development team in enhancing, improving and transforming software delivery and product development cycles, including timescales, quality and cost, people and process.
To lead the development and delivery of a business and customer focused software development strategy.
Review both internal and external assumptions and plans, challenging where necessary and ensuring the software development factory is fit for purpose as to the specific needs and requirements of the business.
Maintain constant control of the software development process, ensuring adherence to standards, quality, methodologies.
Drive best practice across the organisation in terms of software architecture, software development, support and testing.
To contribute to the overall IT strategy, ensuring it is linked to business objectives and ensuring the application architecture , software development and support organisations interface smoothly within the business.
Ensure availability of appropriate development tools, services and resource through the third party resource to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, to budget and to quality standards agreed.
Introduce and utilise appropriate software development and testing methodologies for the organisation, i.e agile, waterfall etc.
This role has a very large financial and budgetary responsibility and organizational impact on the organization.
