Summary of the Role's Main Purpose:
- Primarily responsible for advising and supporting the JS depot SHE Managers within the job holders region on all aspects of environmental management including compliance with the Integrated Management System.
- Supporting and giving direction and leadership to other group safety functions on environmental management
- Supporting the Logistics Safety Health and Environment Manager on the environmental management strategy, project work, delivery noise restrictions and continuous improvement.
- Collation, preparation and updating of management information and reports for use by members of the Group Safety Team
Work with the Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Manager and lead where applicable, the ongoing maintenance of the Integrated Management System and identify areas for improvement
Understand site impacts on the environment and how we propose to manage them. This includes initial risk assessments and ongoing review of these as part of the management system
Work with the depot SHE Managers to co-ordinate and encourage activities on site within the framework provided by the centre (i.e. ISO14001) on an on-going basis including;
Coordinating and undertaking internal audits and site tours
Coordinating period reporting
Support the site to develop local targets
implementation of internal and external communications plan
Maintenance of EMS documentation
Development of site procedures together with the department heads to ensure adherence to the requirements
Initiating site plans for the environment (eg how sites will achieve their targets)
Attend both functional and team (on and off site) meetings to ensure knowledge sharing , development of the EMS, coaching and up-skilling of others
Act as a point of contact for corporate environmental initiatives in the region
Ensuring that the site is complying with all applicable legal requirements through reviewing relevant procedures and amending their aspects and internal audit schedule as necessary.
To drive the division forward towards becoming leading edge in our contribution to the environment agenda, both internally and externally through trialling new technologies and processes that both meet business needs and fits our environment agenda
Ensuring that depot utilities are regularly monitored & measured and that they are reporting these internally/externally as directed.
To assist the SHE Manager in ensuring all site environmental licenses are being monitored and renewed where applicable.
To report to the SHE Managers on environmental management system performance
