ASL is a Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 independent international school based in northwest London. We offer an American-style education to 1,350 students of more than 50 nationalities. We seek candidates who wish to work in a dynamic innovative school where collegiality is highly valued, and where a high level of professionalism is honored and expected.

The Social Studies department offers a broad and challenging program; a sequential group of courses builds a body of knowledge, fosters critical thinking, and develops skills in research, writing, and oral expression. The High School Social Studies Teacher should be able to teach World Civilizations I and II (grades 9 and 10) along with courses for grades 11 and 12 in United States History and/or Economics. Students at ASL study the US curriculum. Successful applicants will have a relevant bachelor's degree and substantial experience teaching Social Studies to 14-18 year olds in a school with a similar teaching philosophy to that of ASL. A master’s degree and experience teaching advanced level AP courses are desirable.

The American School in London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. Employees must have, or be able to obtain, a full police clearance.
