Job Description iTrader is a European real-time price publication and electronic trading platform for corporate bonds. The application handles client inquriy and order management for the external markets; Bloomberg, TradeWeb, Market Axess and Reuters. The platform is currently being expanded to facilitate a global derivatives trading requirement.
The application team is responsible for managing the application, delivering additional functionality, and providing second-line support. There is a frequent release cycle 1 to 2 per month to meet the demanding business needs. All releases are managed on week nights.
The team are now working even closer with our global America’s and Asia colleagues on a single electronic platform for Cash and Derivatives that will take the best features of existing applications in the regions.
Responsibilities We are looking for a developer to work as part of a strong eight-person team based in London, delivering critical business enhancements to maintain a top 3 position in the Fixed Income market place. The successful applicant will work directly with the trading, e-commerce and front line support teams, as well as their counterparts in the US and Asia. The role is at Officer/Associate level, and is ideally suited to a talented candidate with strong technical experience who is looking to get into a front office environment specialising in electronic trading.
The successful candidate will be capable of working independently to deliver reliable solutions within tight deadlines. They should have experience in all aspects of the development life-cycle from requirements gathering to design, implementation, testing and rollout. Applicants should be comfortable with the pressure and exposure that working with Front Office can bring, and are expected to hit the ground running. Experience of multi tasking and interfacing with users is a must. Candidates will be required to have a strong Computer or mathematics based degree with the emphasis on excellent Java skills.
Core technologies are Java and TIBCO Rendezvous. Peripheral technologies include SQL (SQL Server and Sybase), Perl and Unix shell scripting. Previous exposure to bond pricing and analytics is an advantage, though we are happy to provide training to a candidate with the right technical experience and the desire to learn quickly.

Strong technical development background in core Java (J2EE not required).
The candidate is expected to have worked on distributed applications and be familiar with technologies in this area such as TIBCO/RV and Reuters RMDS.
Experience of working in heterogeneous development and production environments e.g. Linux / Windows / Solaris, with relational databases, source and release management techniques, OO design methodologies.
Ability to structure, express, defend and justify opinions and concerns.
Ability to communicate accurately details of problems and scenarios.
Exposure to a front-office trading environment.
Any fixed income or financial product exposure.
