Job Title – Web Applications Developer
Salary: up to £30,000

The position is a key member of the development team and is responsible for the development of the web front-end for the Public-i applications. As part of our Agile Scrum team you will be responsible for assisting with the creation of our products. You will carry out translation of backlog items into engineering design and logical units of work (tasks) and write and verify code which adheres to the acceptance criteria

You will have experience of PHP, MySQL, (Object Oriented) JavaScript, JavaScript libraries, particularly jQuery, (X)HTML, CSS and DOM manipulation, Performance optimisation, Photoshop / layer comps, Implementing web accessibility to W3 standards and Responsive design and/or ‘mobile first’ design

To enable to grow our highly regarded product suite we are looking at adding to our existing development team, the applicant will be contributing to the architecture and development of new and existing web applications.

Web Applications Developer - Main Duties and Tasks

- Responsible for creation of product
- Part of Agile Scrum team
- Translation of backlog items into engineering design and logical units of work (tasks)
- Writes and verifies code which adheres to the acceptance criteria

Web Applications Developer - Skills

- Excellent knowledge and experience of:
- PHP, MySQL, (Object Oriented) JavaScript
- JavaScript libraries, particularly jQuery
- (X)HTML, CSS and DOM manipulation
- Performance optimisation
- Photoshop / layer comps
- Implementing web accessibility to W3 standards
- Responsive design and/or ‘mobile first’ design

Working knowledge of:

- Best practice usability
- Agile scrum

Desirable (non essential) skills are:

- CodeIgnitor PHP Framework
- GIT / other source code control system
- Continuous integration/testing (Jenkins, Gerrit)
- Social media / social networking technologies
- LAMP servers

In addition the Web Applications Developer is expected to be able to:

- Document code and provide system documentation
- Communicate with technical and non-technical staff
- Work as part of a team
- Project manage their own work
- Be adept at time and task management
- Manage and solicit feedback from stakeholders (internal and external)
