To assist with planning of the curriculum

To help to set out the rooms for various activities and to tidy away at the end of each day to Hoover, empty bins, mop floors, wash remaining plates/cups and cutlery and generally tidy the nursery.

To prepare drinks and snacks

Liaise with parents/carers and ensure each child’s needs are recognised and met

To advise the manager of any concerns eg: over children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary

To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation

To attend staff meetings

To attend in service training courses

To keep completely confidential any information regarding children, their families or other staff which is learned as part of the job

To be responsible for carrying out observations so that children’s progress can be effectively and regularly assessed

To ensure records are properly maintained, eg: daily attendance register, accident book and medical records.

Important Other Information

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is per hour from October 2013. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
