We require a qualified pharmacy technician to work in our busy unlicensed aseptic unit providing chemotherapy dispensing services to Sussex Cancer Centre, Oncology and Haematology ward patients, the RoyalAlexandraHospital for children, Clinical Investigation and Research Unit and other patients within the trust. This post will allow CIRU to expand their portfolio of trials requiring aseptic manipulation.

Duties within the aseptic unit include:
  • Cytotoxic and monoclonal drug reconstitution
  • Worksheet and label preparation
  • Assembly of drugs and consumables
  • Environmental monitoring.
  • Formula and assembly checking of trays
  • Undertaking volume checks at an isolator
Duties within clinical trials will include:
  • dispensing trial medications
  • assisting with the maintenance and set up of trial folders
  • assisting with sponsor meetings
You will also take part, on a rotational basis, in dispensary based activities on a weekend as required.

You will have a NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services, or equivalent, and be registered as a qualified Pharmacy Technician with GPhC. Previous experience of aseptic work is not essential.
